In a spirited press conference held on December 13, 2024, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), firmly rejected criticisms from Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu. Apexnewsgh reports
Afenyo-Markin had accused the NDC of obstructing the re-collation process at the Tesano Police Training School and urged the party to respect the Electoral Commission (EC) and follow due process.
In response, Asiedu Nketiah took a strong stance, saying, “I heard Afenyo-Markin, who has rejected the position of Minority Leader, is now on his way to becoming a micro-minority leader, bragging that he belongs to a party of the rule of law.” His comments were directed at what he viewed as Afenyo-Markin’s overreach in discussing NDC’s commitment to democratic principles.
Firing back at the Majority Leader, Nketiah asserted, “Who doesn’t know the NPP? We in the National Democratic Congress do not need lectures from Afenyo-Markin about democracy at all. Indeed, if there were any need for lectures in impunity, then we would invite him as a lecturer, but if it is about democracy, he must shut up.”
The exchange highlighted the ongoing tensions between the two parties, showcasing the NDC’s confidence in their actions and their determination to stand firm against external criticism.
