The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Team for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary campaigns. Apexnewsgh reports

The team, appointed by the Functional Executive Committee, is tasked with prosecuting the party’s campaign nationwide.

The National Campaign Team is led by Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary, as Campaign Coordinator, with Dr. Joseph Yammin, National Organizer, as Deputy Campaign Coordinator in charge of regional campaigns.

Other members include Richard Quashiga, Chief Hamilton Nixon Biney, Sammy Gyamfi, George Opare Addo, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, Alhaji Cole Younger, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Beatrice Annan, Alex Segbefia, James Agyenim Boateng, and Eric Adjei.

The team will work under the guidance of a Campaign Steering Committee chaired by Johnson Asiedu Nketia, with members including Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Dr. Ato Forson, Rt. Hon. Doe Adjaho, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, Betty Mould Iddrisu, Julius Debrah, Marrietta Brew, Dr. Valerie Sawyer, Sam Pee Yalley, and Alhaji Alhassan Ligbi.

The National Campaign Team and Steering Committee will report to the Functional and National Executive Committees of the party, with the flag-bearer, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, providing overall leadership.

Despite the unwavering loyalty of the Upper East Region to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party has consistently neglected the region when making critical appointments. This disturbing trend has become a norm, leaving party members in the region feeling disenfranchised and disillusioned.

The Upper East Region has been a stronghold for the NDC since 1992, earning it the nickname “World Bank for the NDC.” Even in opposition, the NDC boasts 14 Members of Parliament from the region, while the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) only has one. This impressive feat alone deserves recognition and respect from the party leadership.

However, the region’s dedication and contributions seem to go unnoticed, as key appointments and decisions continue to bypass the region. The silence from party members in the region is deafening, as they fail to express their discontent to the leadership in Accra.

Only one person Richard Anamoo was appointed as representative of the NDC’s professional forum out of 33 appointments.

This neglect has created a sense of disillusionment among party faithful in the Upper East Region, who feel their loyalty and hard work are being taken for granted. The NDC must acknowledge and address this issue to prevent further disillusionment and potential defections. The party’s neglect of the Upper East Region is a stark reminder that loyalty and dedication are not always reciprocated.
