In an exciting turn of events, Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen, Editor-in-Chief of ApexnewsGh, has been honored once again by the Upper East branch of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) as the 2023 best Human Rights Reporter. Apexnewsgh reports
This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career.
Stephen’s journey to this achievement began with his nomination for the 3rd Upper East GJA Awards, where his documentary, “THE HORROR OF WITCHCRAFT ACCUSATION,” caught the attention of the vetting committee.
The documentary shed light on the heart-wrenching accusations of vulnerable elderly individuals being labeled as witches and wizards, showcasing Stephen’s dedication to exposing the truth.
This award is not Stephen’s first recognition; he has previously been honored at the regional GJA awards in 2019 as the Human Rights Award recipient and in 2023 as the Climate Change Award winner.
Moreover, in May 2024, he was nationally recognized as the Best Online/Wire Reporter at the Inclusive and Anti-Conflict Journalism Awards, solidifying his position as a leading journalist in Ghana.
The awards ceremony saw nine journalists receive recognition in various categories, with Humu-Khrusum Tahiru of A1 Radio being honored as the best female journalist of the year and Anthony Apubeo Adongo of Ghana News Agency being recognized as the overall best Regional journalist of the year.
Stephen’s consistent excellence in journalism serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to telling the stories that need to be told, and this latest recognition cements his position as a leading voice in human rights reporting.
