In a bold and staunch defense of the energy sector’s performance under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, Energy Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh spoke out against recent power outages in various regions, particularly in Greater Accra. Apexnewsgh reports
He asserted that despite challenges, the sector has made significant improvements compared to the previous administration led by John Mahama.
Speaking at the inauguration of the NPP campaign team in the Ashanti Region, Dr Opoku Prempeh emphasized the ongoing efforts to address sector challenges and continuously enhance its performance. He highlighted that the energy sector under the NPP government is in a much better state than it was during the tenure of the NDC.
Refuting calls for the implementation of a load-shedding timetable to manage power disruptions, Dr. Opoku Prempeh echoed the stance of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that such a timetable is unnecessary. He assured the public that his ministry is committed to improving the energy sector and questioned the intentions behind those calling for a timetable.
With a promise to work towards a better energy sector, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh asserted that the progress made under the NPP administration far surpasses the achievements of the previous administration.
He urged stakeholders to trust the government’s commitment to ongoing improvements and not be swayed by calls for unnecessary measures like load-shedding timetables.
