The 12-member committee tasked with investigating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections has officially presented its findings to the party’s national leadership. Apexnewsgh reports
The presentation took place on Wednesday, April 16, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, with former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, chairing the committee.
The event drew key figures in the party, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua. Notably, the committee was formed to thoroughly examine the causes of the party’s loss and provide recommendations to prevent similar outcomes in future elections.
Although details of the report remain undisclosed, Prof. Mike Oquaye declined to comment publicly on its content following the handover. The party leadership is expected to review the recommendations and take steps to reposition the NPP ahead of future electoral contests. According to some sources, the committee was given a three-month period to conduct its work and report back to the National Council.
The NPP has not yet released the findings to the public, but the report’s contents are anticipated to shape the party’s future strategies. With the presentation of the report, the party can now begin to implement changes and work towards regaining its footing in Ghanaian politics.
