Following a meeting with stakeholders in the energy sector in Accra, the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to ensure power consumers are provided with a load shedding timetable.

This directive comes after the regulator, PURC, had earlier instructed ECG to furnish it with a load management timetable by 2 April 2024.

Chairman of the committee, Samuel Atta Akyea, addressed the media after the meeting, stating that they will closely monitor the situation to ensure the right steps are taken.

Akyea emphasized the importance of power consumers knowing when to expect power outages so they can plan their lives accordingly. He also mentioned that technical challenges related to fuel supply and under-generation of power are being addressed.

The committee is committed to overseeing the implementation of a load shedding timetable and ensuring that power consumers are informed and able to plan their energy usage effectively.
