President Mahama Swears in Constitutional Review Committee Members

In a ceremony held at the Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday, January 30, President John Dramani Mahama swore into office members of the Constitutional Review Committee. Apexnewsgh reports

The committee, chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), comprises esteemed individuals recognized for their expertise and commitment to good governance.

The committee’s members include:

Justice Sophia Adinyirah: A retired Supreme Court justice and member of the International Association of Women Judges
Prof. Kwame Karikari: A veteran journalist and Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication
Mrs. Charlotte Osei: A lawyer and former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission
Dr. Godwin Djokoto: A Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law
Ibrahim Tanko Amidu: A governance expert with 23 years of experience
Dr. Esi Ansah: A founding partner and CEO of Axis Human Capital Ltd and a professor at Ashesi University
Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya: A legal expert with specialized knowledge in oil and gas consultancy²

The committee is tasked with identifying gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional review efforts, engaging with stakeholders, and formulating actionable recommendations to strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions and processes. President Mahama emphasized the importance of the committee’s work, stating that the review is crucial to ensuring that the Constitution remains a living document, responsive to the evolving needs and aspirations of the Ghanaian people.

With a five-month timeframe to deliver comprehensive and impactful recommendations, President Mahama expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to excel in their task.
