Prof Adei’s pronouncement confirms Amoako Atta’s claims of having thieves at the road ministry –Abdallah Salifu

Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, the Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that the recent statement made by Prof. Adei confirms what Road Minister Lawyer Amoako himself Atta said a few months ago, which was widely shared online.

In August, a video from Graphic Online captured the minister expressing his frustration about the widespread corruption in Ghana. He acknowledged that this issue is detrimental to the country and emphasized how government officials, civil servants, and others prioritize accumulating wealth at all costs as if they can take it with them when they die.

“There are a lot of corrupt people, there are a lot of thieves in my ministry. You sack them, you employ new ones, and when they come, the new ones are even worse than the old ones that you sacked, what kind of country are we building for ourselves?

Meanwhile, speaking in a television interview last week, Prof Stephen Adei, who is also a former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) said he has information to the effect that persons seeking road contracts are told: “Road contracts will be given to you, provided you pay 1 million upfront….”

Prof. Adei’s pronouncement has so far triggered the road minister to issue a statement challenging that fact. He has since petitioned Prof. Adei to EOCO.

The Regional Communication Officer of NDC Jonathan Abdallah Salifu in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, says, “I think Adai is only trying to possibly re-emphasize what is been speculated, you can call it the truth in the public domain because the issue of corruption and corruption allegation against the Akufo-Addo government is not only been complained by members of the opposition but equally been expressed by members of the governing party as well”.

According to Mr. Salifu, it is an open secret that Mr. Adai is not the first and will never be the last to make such a pronouncement before President Akufo-Addo finally exits office.

“Earlier on, leading members of NPP like Kennedy Agyapong who is equally contesting to become the flagbearer of the party has made serious allegations against President Akufo-Addo and his government with regard to corruption”.

He further made reference to the accusation that before you could see President Akufo-Addo you will have to pay $200,000 before having access to him at the presidency “You remember the allegation that former Minister for Women and Children Affairs Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo has money lodge in her account to fly back to Ghana in other to support E-levy approval in parliament insured by the Chief of staff? A lot of allegations coming from Kennedy Agyapong”.

Apart from Kennedy Agyapong, we have had leading members like Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, and many other former appointees making allegations here and there. And then, even if the public doesn’t want to believe what we the opposition members are saying, how about members of government, I mean their own party members? We are being told that when a crocodile comes from the river and tells you that the following crocodile in the river has one eye, you will definitely know is a fact.

When you go to other media outlets, the road minister Lawyer Amoako Atta was captured saying ‘There are a lot of corrupt people and thieves in my ministry’. So, the road minister has admitted that in his ministry they are corrupt people.

Mr. Addai didn’t say the Minister took Ghc1 million, he said people at the road ministry demand money, and he knows. Mr. Abdallah Salifu told Apexnewsgh.com.
