Rev. Fordjour Responds to Defamation Suit from MP Dafeamekpor

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, has publicly stated that he has yet to be served with the defamation suit filed against him by his colleague, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi.

This legal action arises from a social media post made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour, which Mr. Dafeamekpor claims has significantly harmed his reputation.

The controversy began with a post dated May 8, 2025, which Rev. Fordjour shared on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter). In this post, he alleged that Mr. Dafeamekpor, who also holds the position of Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, served as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation during a time when former National Signals Bureau chief, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, purportedly paid GH¢360,000 to the committee to facilitate the passage of a Legislative Instrument.

In his defense of the charges of fraudulently misappropriating GH¢49.1 million, Kwabena Adu-Boahene indicated that allowances totaling GH¢960,000 and GH¢309,000 were distributed to Members of Parliament on the Defence and Interior Committee and the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, respectively, during the processing of the NSB Act and its associated Legislative Instrument.

On May 16, 2025, Rev. Fordjour issued a press statement addressing the situation, emphasizing that the suit had not yet come to his attention. He expressed his readiness to be served and his confidence in demonstrating the suit’s lack of merit. “Media reports of a suit supposedly filed by my colleague Honourable Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, have come to my attention. However, I have not been served with any such suit. I, therefore, await the service of the supposed suit and will demonstrate that it is of no merit,” he stated.

Rev. Fordjour’s comments reflect his intention to clarify the matter and engage with the legal proceedings once formally notified.
