John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a bold promise to the people of Savelugu in the Northern Region. Apexnewsgh reports
If he wins the 2024 presidential election, he vows to build an ultramodern market facility in the area, transforming it into a major trading hub.
Speaking at a durbar in Savelugu on October 31, Mahama emphasized that the proposed market will provide traders with a structured and spacious environment, boosting economic activities in the region. This move is part of the NDC’s dedication to developing both rural and urban areas across Ghana.
Mahama highlighted the party’s manifesto, which includes establishing branches of the Women’s Development Bank everywhere, including in the Savelugu market. This initiative aims to empower women financially and promote economic growth. The Market Enhancement Programme is another key component of the NDC’s plan, designed to modernize markets and attract traders.
The proposed market facility is expected to prioritize the needs of the local traders and residents, creating a thriving economic center in the region. Mahama’s commitment to developing Savelugu is a testament to the NDC’s focus on inclusive growth and development.
As Mahama stated, “Anytime I pass here on the Savelugu Market Day, I see the number of people at the market, and so it is one of the markets we are going to prioritize.” This promise is a significant step towards unlocking the economic potential of the region and improving the lives of its people.
