According to police accounts, a tragic incident unfolded after mounting tensions in a polygamous household.
The suspect, reportedly troubled by ongoing disagreements between his wife and her co-wife, often accused his wife of infidelity. Matters escalated when the deceased threatened to leave the marriage during one of their disputes.
On the day of the incident, sources say the deceased had yet another confrontation with the first wife and again expressed her intention to end the marriage. In the early hours of the following morning, according to police reports, the suspect allegedly shot his wife in the left side of her chest, resulting in her instant death.
Bifam Janbebu Solomon, Assembly Member for the Sogon No. 2 Electoral Area, confirmed to the media that the matter was promptly reported, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Police have since confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect has been remanded into custody. He is expected to reappear before the court on November 9, 2026.
