Excerpt of late Latif Solomon Yenah NPP Youth Organizer’s Interview in 2020 (Audio)

The Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Lambon in 2020 chided the Regional Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Latif Solomon for campaigning in some secondary schools with government Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) meant for second cycle institutions. Mr. Latif Solomon, while monitoring the Electoral Commission’s registration exercise in some senior high schools, was spotted in a video distributing PPE to students and urging them not to disappoint President Nana Addo for the implementation of the Free SHS education policy. An action the NDC Youth Organizer Mr. Lambon described as unfortunate and an act of impunity despite a ban on visitation to secondary schools by the Ghana Education Service. But in a reaction to the NDC’s claims, the NPP Youth Organizer, now late Latif Solomon Yenah, said, his action was a kind gesture to students who were not seen wearing nose masks at the time of registering for their voter’s identification cards. According to him, Rawlings stood for a principle, Atta Mills stood for a principle but saw that to err is human, and every human being has one mistake or the other. “Corruption was amplified under NPP government but Atta Mills felt no, even for the first time in the history of Ghana when he came, MMDCEs were not suffering in government because he wanted to introduce a different institution that will ensure there is a continuity in Governance and we are seen as one people who are working for the cause of mother Ghana but shouldn’t be witch-hunting each other”.
