The holy bible NPP is having is FSHS–Anaribazanga Ibrahim mocked NPP

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Communication Team Ibrahim Anaribazanga has mocked the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) by describing their FSHS policy as their holy bible. Speaking on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship programme dubbed: “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Monday, October 10, 2022, the Bolga East Communication Officer of the opposition NDC Anaribazanga Ibrahim mocked the NPP. According to him, “the only bible now for the NPP is Free Senior High. If you want to sheet Free Senior High, if you want to urinate Free Senior High. If you asked them, why are doctors not in the hospital? They say Free Senior High School. You asked them why is the cedi depreciating against the dollar, they say Free Senior High School. All their answers is pointing to Free Senior High School. And the Free Senior High School they are talking about, this is not what we call Free Senior High School, the kids are suffering in this country and for them to feed is a problem, Is that Free Senior High School? He asked The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 12th September, 2017, launched the Free Senior High School policy, describing the programme as the means to creating a society of opportunities and empowerment for every citizen. At a ceremony at the West Africa Senior High School, President Akufo-Addo noted that he made the Free SHS pledge “because I know that knowledge and talent are not for the rich and privileged alone, and that free education widens the gates of opportunities to every child, especially those whose talents are arrested because of poverty.” President Akufo-Addo noted that the countries that have made rapid progress around the world put education at the heart of their development, referencing the transition to publicly funded high school education by the United States in the mid-nineteenth century. “It must have been a daunting prospect at the time – paying for the education of so many children, for such an extended period of time out of limited public resources, transferring a potential workforce away from immediate productivity for an investment like schooling. But the experiment paid off,” President said Source: Apexnewsgh.com|Ghana For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336063 or Email: apexnewsgh@gmail.com

UER: Six NPP in NDC skin sacked, 12 ‘skirt and blouse’ members suspended

The Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region has expelled six of its members over misconduct and anti-party behaviour during the 2020 general elections. In addition, 12 members of the opposition party have also been suspended on the grounds of the same charge. In a statement signed by the constituency secretary, Thomas Nyaaba, some of the members were found guilty of campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in last year’s elections with others also encouraging members of the party in the region to vote ‘skirt and blouse’. Although they were invited by the Disciplinary Committee of the party to make a defense, they all declined and never appeared before the committee. After taking into consideration the evidence against all the 18 members of the umbrella party, the Committee recommended that six be expelled from the party and the 12 suspended. With the recommendation adopted by the Executive Committee, all the affected members are directed to return any party property that may be their possession. List of members expelled from the NDC: Mr. Eugene Atiah Mr. Goson Atesika Mr. Solomon Adombire Mr. Sampson Afa-ane Apukya Mrs. Danteni Talata Mr. Akayange Anogya   List of members suspended from the NDC: Mr. Alex Akavani Mr. Anafo Sam Mr. Nsoh Adabre Mr. Francis Adombila Mr. Baba Atuna Mr. Asabire Atidoo Mr. Issaka Steven Mr. Atimbire James Mr. Akadoli Richard Mr. Atanga Awaafo Mr. Ayelma Shadrach. Mr. Martin Ayeo   Background: In accordance with article 48 (2) of the Party’s Constitution as amended in 2018, relating to the discipline of members, the Executive Committee referred 18 members to the disciplinary committee for alleged misconduct and anti-party behaviours during the 2020 general elections on 26h May 2021. The Executive Committee of the Constituency had already taken disciplinary action in the form of suspension pending disciplinary proceedings against the offending members for various acts of misconduct and indiscipline in accordance with article 48 of the Constitution of the Party. The Committee was duly informed and given copies of the letters suspending the members subject to disciplinary action. The Executive Committee, of the Party, provided the Committee with a summary of the charges against each member with the accompanying evidence which had been gathered through reports from the various branches. Proceedings: Based upon the summary of charges provided to the Committee, the Committee wrote and served letters of invitation to all the 18 members to appear before the Committee and be heard in their defense. Each member was given a date and time for appearance before the Committee. The Committee officially started sitting to hear the members on 8th June and ended on 20h June, 2021. Conclusions and Observations: After critical observations and analysis by the Committee, we clearly adduced that the intentional refusal or inability of the defaulters to appear before the committee is a gross disrespect not only to the Committee but to the Constituency Executive Committee and the party constitution as a whole. Holding that the group petitioned the Regional Executive Committee is true as claimed by some of them, that action is another breach of the Party’s disciplinary appeal procedures as stated in article 49 of the Constitution. The group could only appeal to the Regional Executive Committee after an unsatisfied hearing and recommendations of the Constituency Disciplinary Committee. Akufo-Addo commission Bolga East Assembly building

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Monday, 21st June 2021, commissioned a newly constructed building for the Bolgatanga East District Assembly, following his working visit of the Upper East Region, which saw him visit Bolgatanga, Binduri and Bawku. Construction of the new Assembly Building commenced in the first term of President Akufo-Addo, with the Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, and other officials of state assisting the President in the commissioning at Zuarungu, the site of the building. Earlier that day, President Akufo-Addo was at the palace of the Zugraan Bawku Naba, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, in Bawku, to pay a courtesy call on him as part of his visit to the Region and the chiefs, queenmothers and elders of the Kusuag Traditional Area. In his address, the President thanked the Bawku Naba for the warm welcome and the strong words of commendation that gave him and members of his government. “I came also to thank you and the people of the Upper East for your support of me and my party during the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections. As you spoke to me frankly, I have to speak to you frankly as well,” he said. The President continued, “I have to say that I was very disappointed with the results of the election in the Upper East Region, especially when you consider the work that we have done in this Region. Whatever the case, at least we have one seat and that is the MP for Binduri. I have to thank you for that.” President Akufo-Addo was delighted to note that the various interventions that the government has put in place since 2017 – Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam, One District One Warehouse – are all being well received here in the Upper East region. “I am also very happy to hear from you about the peace in the area. That is the work of the Bawku Interethnic Peace Committee. The handicap of the committee that you referred to with regards to transport will be solved. Very soon the car you wanted for the committee will be delivered to you. We have to do everything possible to maintain the peace and security of the area,” he said. Touching on the Programme for Planting for Food and Jobs, which, he said, “has been going on very well here”, the President noted that “last year, although we targeted 47,761 farmers under the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme, in the end we registered 66,680 farmers, 20,000 more than were originally scheduled are now under the programme.” The President added that six (6) warehouses in the Kusaug Traditional Area are being constructed, and are 80% complete. Additionally, he added that 40 dams have been built in the Kusuag traditional area as part of the One Dam One Village initiative. “In the same way under the 1-District-1-Factory policy, very soon we are going to establish a guinea fowl processing factory here in Bawku. I am so happy to hear the commitment you have made to stop the smuggling of fertilizer from the area. It is a very important commitment, and I applaud you very much for it,” he added. On roads, President Akufo-Addo indicated that the road construction situation in the Upper East is improving, and was happy to see that the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polimakom road is now 80% complete, and will be completed soon. “Bawku Naba, the NDC never did that road. I have come and I have done the road for you. I know how dear the road is to your heart, and that is why I have said to you that in my time I will complete that road. I am almost there. In the same way the Bawku principal road, as well as the bypass for the Bawku highway are also going to start very soon because I hear that the consultant has begun the stakeholder engagement which should end very soon. That will pave the way. I want everybody to cooperate with the work that is going to be done to enable these developments to take place,” he said. President Akufo-Addo assured that, under Agenda 111, districts without hospitals in the Kusaug area will be provided with hospitals, “just as also the extension of electricity is part of the measures that are being unfolded, which you will also be included in”. On measures to strengthen the security along the borders of the Upper East Region, the President told the Bawku Naba that a permanent barracks is going to be established in Bawku to curb the threat of terrorism there.
