The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) is set to empower a total of 19,324 young individuals with employable skills in vocational and agriculture farm-based institutions within the Upper East Region of Ghana. This initiative is part of the GEA’s larger national program which aims to train 250,000 youths across the country, with a focus on 70 percent women and ten percent individuals with disabilities. The official announcement was made by Mr. Mohammed Bukari, the Regional Director of the GEA, during the launch of the Mastercard Foundation Business in a Box (BIZBOX) Project in Bolgatanga. The goal of this project is to equip young people with essential skills and provide them with start-up resources to address the issue of unemployment in Ghana. Mr. Bukari emphasized the importance of the youth using the training and resources provided to them effectively to not only benefit themselves but to also create job opportunities for others. He warned that those who fail to utilize the tools given to them will have them taken away and passed on to those who are more willing to make use of them. During the event, the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu, urged Ghanaian youth to tap into their creativity and innovation to generate wealth for themselves and the nation. He noted that solving pertinent societal problems through entrepreneurship could bring financial success, citing examples of successful applications developed by youth in Western countries. Hon. Yakubu highlighted youth unemployment as a major concern of the government and outlined various flagship programs aimed at youth development and job creation. These programs include the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Youth Employment Agency (YEA), One-District, One-Factor (1D1F), Youth in Afforestation, Free Senior High School, and the establishment of the Commission of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) to promote technical vocational education among Ghanaian youth. GEA trains 40 women in Tye and Dye Making in FUMBISI
The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) under the Young Africa Works Project and in partnership with SEHP Foundation has taken Women through a 4-day Technical Skills Training in Tye and Dye for a 40-women group in the Builsa South district. Apexnewsgh.com report This training targeted unemployed and school dropouts from various communities of the district. The head of the Business Advisory Centre, Saeed Jafar on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of GEA, encouraged participants to use the numerous opportunities available at the moment to own their future. He added, there is currently registration going on for YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project so they should take advantage of to visit the Business Advisory Centre and get registered. At, a short ceremony to climax the end of the 4-day training, attended by Queen Mothers, the Chief’s representative, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Daniel Kwame Gariba expressed his gratitude to the Ghana Enterprises Agency under the leadership of Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh for giving the district the opportunity to impact lives for the second time this year all under the Young Africa Works Apprentice to Entrepreneur Component. He was also very thankful to the Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, HE HAJIA Samira Bawumia for the continuous support for women’s empowerment in the Country. Sometime, in February this year, she supported the same number of Women to be taken through Soap and Detergents making and the results of the training are seen on the grounds. Young Women especially, those who were trained by GEA are seen selling soap, especially on market days to take care of themselves and their households.
