Priestly Ordination of Rev. Fr. Jacob Yamig, another blessing to Nabdam.

With immense joy and profound gratitude, the Konlani Yamig family at Soliga and Ayeet-Mort family at Kongo together with the Catholic Community of Kongo in the Upper East Region witnessed the heart-lifting Priestly Ordination of Deacon Jacob Yamig Yenbehit, on Saturday, 31st July, 2021 at the Minor Basilica in Navrongo. He was ordained by Most Rev. Alfred Agyenta Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese. Rev. Fr. Jacob was a dedicated Christian during his secondary school days. He also served as an altar boy for many years at the Kongo Catholic Church until he responded to the call to serve God. Rev. Fr. Jacob entered the seminary in the year 2012 and passed through the stages until he was finally ordained a priest. On the following Sunday of the Ordination, Fr. Jacob celebrated his first solemn Holy Eucharist of thanksgiving at the Kongo Catholic Church where he learnt the scripture. He shared the word of God, the Holy Eucharist and prayed over the congregation for the first time after nine years in the seminary. “I don’t have anything to say after all these blessings upon my life than to thank God for the protection. God has used my family, friends, school mates and the Kongo Catholic Church to support me to be a priest today.” Rev. Fr. Jacob said to the congregation. “I will continue to pray for you and your family but also continue to pray for me as I carry the cross because I am human.” He concluded. Reverend Father Jacob is the fifth from the Nabdam area to be ordained as catholic priest. The celebration ended with a fellowship meal for all who were present on the occasion. Besides his parents and siblings, Fr. Jacob was joined by many priests, seminarians of the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga, students, chiefs and a large number of religious and faithful to celebrate the holy mass. It was a great moment to witness as the congregation in their traditional way thanked God as the son of the soil was ordained a priest. Congratulations dear Rev. Fr. Jacob. May Almighty God, who called you into the ministerial priesthood, grant you the wisdom and strength to lead a committed life. Catholic Bishops ‘disgusted’ by Ejura shootings; call for punishment

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) says it is “disgusted” at the shooting incident in Ejura that led to the death of two young men, Murtala Mohammed and Abdul Yusif, both 25, during a demonstration to demand justice for the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed aka Kaaka, a social media activist by a mob. The Catholic Bishops said they have expressed time and again, the need for the security agencies to be very professional in the discharge of their duties, especially when it comes to crowd control but the situation is rather getting out of hand and it does not auger well for the country. The Catholic Bishops said soldiers aiming and shooting at unprotected and unarmed civilians is not only condemnable but criminal and must be investigated and the perpetrators punished. “This must be done with the urgency it deserves because citizens are gradually losing trust in the ability of our security agencies to handle such cases effectively and competently,” the Bishops said in a statement. The Bishops have, however, appealed to all agitated youth across the country particularly those of Ejura to restrain themselves from engaging in acts that can result in social unrest. –Classfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Ghanaians must respect the rights of homosexuals – Most Reverend Philip Naameh

The President of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference, Most Reverend Philip Naameh has pleaded with Ghanaians to make it a habit of respecting the rights and choices of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Life (LGBTQI+) people in the society as they are human beings that equally need protection like everyone else, MyNewsGh.com reports. Speaking in an exclusive interview on Kumasi-based Abusua FM with senior media practitioner, Kojo Marfo monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Bishop Naameh explained that although the Catholic Bishop Conference frowns on the sexual orientation choices of LGBTQI+ persons in Ghana, that however shouldn’t be the basis that persons engaged in such activities should be denied basic rights like accommodation and job opportunities. “Lesbians and gays are humans so we need to respect them. We need to accord them those rights that all human beings enjoy. They should not be denied employment just because they are homosexuals… They should not be denied accommodation…” he said. When asked by the host, Kojo Marfo further to clarify his position since an earlier communique from his office requested of President Akufo-Addo to openly condemn the activities of LGBTQI in Ghana, Bishop Naameh stated that “The basis for refusing them employment should not be because they are homosexuals. Someone may have an orientation to be gay and another an orientation to be a lesbian but if he’s not acting out this orientation, first of all, he is a human being and has the right to accommodation, to work and to communion with other people and those are rights we should respect. “We just don’t say that because he has homosexual tendencies, whereas all human beings have a right to something, he should be denied it.” The Ghana Catholic Bishop’s Conference (GCBC) earlier in a press statement demanded of the government to shut down the recently commissioned office of LGBTQI in the country. They issued the release after the European Union (EU) in Ghana participated in the opening of office space for LGBTQI+ Rights Ghana and called for equality, tolerance, and respect for the group.
