We Are Going Into the Election Through the “Builsa Way”—Asiedu Nketiah Vows

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stood before a crowd at the official launch of Builsa North MP James Agalga’s 2024 campaign. Apexnewsgh reports With unwavering determination in his eyes, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to winning the upcoming elections through a robust approach known as the “Builsa Way.” Emphasizing the party’s resolve, Asiedu Nketiah declared, “If they want it the Builsa way, we will go the Builsa Way.” He spoke passionately about tackling corruption head-on, sending a clear message that the NDC was ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead. Asiedu Nketia predicts NPP’s defeat in the 2024 election, regardless of the candidate chosen as the flagbearer

The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has addressed concerns within his party regarding the recent victory of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Special Delegates’ Conference. Nketia dismissed claims by some members of the NPP that Bawumia’s win has caused anxiety within the opposition party, stating that this is nothing new as Bawumia has consistently performed well in elections. He stressed that the NDC remains confident of victory in the next elections, regardless of the NPP’s presidential primary outcome. Nketia downplayed the significance of Bawumia’s victory, which occurred with a reduced number of aspirants, and encouraged NDC supporters to remain patient and observe events as they unfold. During an interview, Nketia also criticized the NPP, referring to it as the “greatest deception” in the Fourth Republic. NDC: Haruna, Muntaka not cooperating with Speaker of Parliament–Asiedu Nketia

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the just-elected National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) has once again justified the party’s decision to reshuffle the leadership caucus of the Minority in Parliament. Mr. Asiedu Nketia at a Press Conference in the United Kingdom openly said, changing the party leadership in Parliament became necessary because the Minority leadership was not in a good working relationship. He claimed that the minority leaders had issues cooperating with the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin. He said: “Why did we struggle to get an NDC person elected as a Speaker of Parliament? There are certainly some advantages and those advantages can be tapped into when your leadership is cooperating with the Speaker. So we cannot have a situation where NPP leadership is cooperating with the Speaker, and our NDC leadership has challenges cooperating with the Speaker.” “And if you are given a party whose leadership in Parliament is not working together, what will you do, you make the changes, or you resign, and I’m not about to resign,” The chairman stated. The comments by the National Chairman of the NDC come after the Council of Elders of the NDC admonished aggrieved members of the party, Members of Parliament and party leadership to refrain from further public pronouncements following the change in Minority leadership. In a statement issued on Saturday, January 28, 2023, the Council assured to come up with an early and principled resolution on the matter. The NDC last week reshuffled its leadership in Parliament replacing Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle also replaced Ketu North MP, James Klutse Avedzi as the Deputy Minority Leader while Kwame Governs Agbodza replaced Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak as the Minority Chief Whip. But several NDC MPs have described the leadership changes as undemocratic and deeply worrying after they claimed they were not consulted before the change. Meanwhile, over 70 MPs subsequently signed a petition to reject the decision of the party. For publication please kindly contact us on +233256336062 or Email apexnewsgh@gmail.com

NMC Chair Ayeboafo demands immediate resignation of Asiedu Nketia

The Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC), Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, has called on newly elected Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to resign as a member of the Parliamentary Service board. He said the position demands neutrality of the highest sense and he doesn’t think a leader of a political party can do this. Mr Asiedu Nketia, who at the weekend beat incumbent Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to be NDC National Chairman, has served on the board since 2021. He was appointed together with former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament Abraham Ossei Aidoo as the Speaker of Parliament’s nominees onto the Board. The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, and the Clerk of Parliament, Cyril Nsiah, are the members with the Speaker as the Chair. But Mr Ayeboafo says it unconstitutional for a leader of a political party to advise the Speaker, for that matter. He cited how the late Peter Ala Adjetey was removed from the Commission because he was the National Chairman of the NPP. The former Editor-in-Chief of state newspaper Daily Graphic said the constitution was amended to ensure that Mr Ala Adjetey did not stay on as a member of the Commission. “So, if somebody holding political office cannot be a member of the Commission, how can somebody leading a political party advise the Speaker which is supposed to demonstrate objectively and neutrality of the highest sense?” 3news—

Koku Anyidoho threaten Asiedu Nketiah with a letter

Former deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho, has threatened to place an injunction on the party’s upcoming national executive elections slated for December 17. According to him, he will head to the law courts to trigger the injunction if his name is removed from the party’s voter’s register by its General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. In a Twitter post on October 29, Anyidoho insisted that he was still an NDC member and that nobody has sacked him from the party founded by the late former President Jerry John Rawlings. “Just for the record; Nobody has sacked me from the NDC and so if Asiedu-Nketiah, perfidiously removes my name from the voting register, I will have no opinion but to place an injunction on the National Election. Aluta Continua,” he tweeted. Background Koku Anyidoho was in a letter dated July 27, 2021 expelled from the National Democratic Congress for anti-party behaviours. It followed complaints brought against him by some members of the party as well as further investigations and decisions taken by the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC. “At its meeting on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) considered the report and recommendations of the National Disciplinary Committee on the case of misconduct and anti-party behaviour brought against you (Koku Anyidoho), pursuant to article 48(1)(9)(a) of the NDC constitution,” part of the statement signed by Asiedu Nketiah read. “The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) acting in compliance of Article 48(1) of the NDC Constitution unanimously adopted the report and accepts full responsibility for your expulsion from the party,” it said. “You are, therefore, by the decision of FEC expelled from the National Democratic Congress and for that matter you are no more recognised as a member the party and cannot carry yourself as such,” it stated. But Koku Anyidoho on a number of occasions has shot down his dismissal from the party. “It was an individual who came out and said so,” he said in a February 17 interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio. —Dailynewsghana— For publication please kindly contact us @0256336062 or Email apexnewsgh@gmail.com

We’ve learnt our lessons, election 2024 will be ‘do or die’ – Asiedu Nketia reiterates

• Former President, John Dramani Mahama, during his Bono Regional tour said election 2024 will be a do or die affair • Many people have tongue-lashed him for making this statement • But the NDC appears unperturbed as its general secretary has reaffirmed those words in a radio interview in Kumasi General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has noted that his party has taken a cue from the previous elections and will employ new tactics to win election 2024. He reiterated the 2020 NDC flagbearer’s statement that election 2024 will be a do or die affair at the polling station. In a radio interview in Kumasi as part of John Dramani Mahama‘s ‘Thank you’ tour, Asiedu Nketia said, “We have learnt our lessons from the previous elections. We have new tactics to use in the 2024 election. That is why we said the elections would be a ‘do and die’ affair at the polling station.” According to a Daily Graphic report, Asiedu Nketia said the NDC would ensure that the right things are done at both the polling and collation centres for a free and fair election. National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, also urged NDC faithful to be ready to battle the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the next general elections. He further appreciated the efforts of NDC members and serial callers in election 2020 but asked them to work harder in 2024. Dumsor is a pure political term–Johnson Asiedu Nketia

Mr. Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress has described Dumsor as a pure political term, and stressing that the Akufo-Addo government cannot defer to engineers to explain the political term it inherited during opposition. Over some period now, the country has seen a continuous power outage, which the Energy Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has attributed to ongoing system upgrades. Dr Prempeh, who recently announced that there would be systematic power outages in May, also refuted claims that dumsor was back during a recent tour of some ongoing upgrade projects in Accra. “We should all be truthful in our communication. In 2016, the whole country, they gave us periods that we were off and on. In 2016, the government of the day told us that it was a generation problem. In 2016, even the opposition talked about the government not having money to buy fuel. This is not a generation problem, this is not about fuel, so, how could it be dumsor?” “Dumsor is planned and a timetable is rolled out and it affected the whole country for four years. Is that what we are seeing? No”, he asserted, insisting: “Some of the systems, because of the challenges, the reason the system upgrades are being done is what we are feeling”. “So, we have to bear with the contractors to finish in time so that we can enjoy the improvement we so desire”, he pleaded. “Is it the dumsor that you have known and come to live with that is happening in the country?” he questioned “We have systems where lines are flickering, voltages are low and, sometimes, like it happened over the weekend, a line is down because a conductor has broken. And that is exactly why we are here today – the system upgrade that is ongoing – and, so, the challenges are what we are dealing with and all I can say is to plead with Ghanaians to be forbearing and we’ll coming out of the problem”, he said. “Some of these claims need not be responded to in the sense that in the light of the obvious fact, this was not started today, this project has been ongoing for some time, the project the engineer just told you about, so, I can simply say it is not true”. “Dumsor is not an engineering term, it’s a political term, so, if in 2016, we were not interested in listening to the causes of the dumsor, why should we be listening to the causes of the dumsor from the engineering standpoint now”. “At that time, even when we were explaining that: ‘Look, part of the problem has to do with generation, part of the problem has to do with the gas that was not flowing from Nigerian and all that, they said it was all incompetence. So, the politician should not go and hide”, he noted. “They should come and explain their own term dumsor and the explanation they gave was that, dumsor means light going on, light coming off and, so, now they cannot call the engineers who did not study dumsor in any of their textbooks, to come and explain to us what dumsor means”.
