The managing Director of Yeyenya Mining Group Hon. Charles T. Ndanbon has added his voice to the unfortunate drama that took place at the Bolgatanga High Court 2 on Friday, March 21, 2023, between the High Court Judge, Justice Alexander Graham and the two messengers of the Paramount Chief of the Talensi District who upon admitting on their own plea were convicted and later ended up signing a six-month bond of good behavior. Hon. Ndanbon, lauded the High Court Judge for his tremendous and exemplary action exhibited in the interest of the majority of the vulnerable people in the region who do not have such skills and capacity to influence judges against the innocent people of the region that are having good cases at the various courts. Hon. Ndanbon who seems not excited with such development, says, such action of influence has affected more innocent residents of the region and because of that, they fear going to court for justice even though their case is white as snow. He sighted the Chinese he individually brought into the country for a mining support service, always telling him to go to court. He believes that what is giving the Chinese man courage is because they believe they can easily influence judges through these kinds of elements in society. “Yenyeya Mining Enterprise has suffered a lot at the hands of these so-called “influential personalities” in the system, to the extent of forcing me to hand over my business to the Chinese and I stood firm by saying a big ‘NO’ because such cannot happen even in China”. He lamented However, he further extended his plea to the Chief Justice to bring Justice Alexander Graham back to the region and also ensure he is given enough security for his protection. It is my pleasure to salute you for the wonderful work you are doing for the region and the country at large. Indeed, I see it necessary and important at this point to condemn the unfortunate drama the region witnessed at the Bolgatanga High Court 2 on Friday between a High Court Judge, Justice Alexander Graham and the two personalities who were later convicted on their own plea and later sign a 6months bond of good behavior. Truthfully, the Judge deserves an honor for his brave working skills which from what we saw and witnessed in the courtroom clearly shows his genuine love and care for the ordinary persons who cannot afford to send their servants to the judge’s chambers, homes or even somewhere outside the region in the name influencing Judges to always give a wrong verdict against innocent people of Upper East with genuine cases. The action exhibited by the Bolgatanga High court Judge has resurrected the lost hope of the people of Upper East Region who have gone through some level of margination by the so-called people with ‘influence’ Ladies and gentlemen, I decided to stay away from court for some time now, when a Chinese I brought into the country to render a mining support service started singing it to me like a song to go to court and the question I asked myself was, what is giving the Chinese man the confidence and later I realized, that what just happened on Friday between Justice Alexander Graham and the two that claimed they were sent by the Talensi Paramount Chief is the answer and the reason the Chinese man has lost respect for the people of Talensi District and Upper East at large. It is believed that they are confident of using this same channel to buy off any public official including the Judiciary with their indelible mentality “GHANA BIGMAN BIG ENVELOPE FINISH AM”. The action exhibited by Justice Graham, is the best thing that has happened to the people of the Upper East Region since the beginning of the year 2023 and this simply shows that there is something called “natural justice” that no matter how rich, how intelligent, how influential, I mean how popular you think you are, you cannot influence that “natural justice” Yenyeya Mining Enterprise has suffered a lot at the hands of these so-called “influential personalities” in the system, to the extent of forcing me to hand over my business to the Chinese and I stood firm by saying a big ‘NO’ because such cannot happen even in China. How can I hand over my business to those I personally brought into the country to render a mining support service to my business? I am not a fool, my name is Charles T. Ndanbon, I am a resident of Upper East Region and a citizen of Ghana and I am confident that with a brave and sincere Judge such as Justice Alexander Graham people like us without influence and strong connection will see a natural justice in our law court. Let me also join the good reasoning people of the Upper East Region who are very saddened by the unfortunate incident attack at the residence of Justice Alexander Graham on Wednesday night leading to
AUDIO ATTACHED: Talensi traditional council press release a ‘shameful defence’, “we plead with Chief Justice to put together firm security to protect Judge Graham and property–NAPAIC-Ghana
National Patriots against Injustice and Corruption Ghana (NAPAIC-Ghana), has responded with great disappointment that they were shocked when the news broke that the Acting Upper East Regional Supervising High Court Judge, Justice Alexander Graham, had been escorted out of the region by the state security apparatus for fear of his life following an attack by unknown persons at his residence on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The group further claimed in their press release that, “It is our strong belief that people who supported the cruel and offensive actions of the agents of the Paramount Chief of Talensi, Tongraan Nanlebegtang Kugbilsong, to entrap and influence Justice Alexander Graham might have carried out the attack or the threat (our opinion) on the judge. We humbly ask the security services, notably the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), to quickly put up an intelligence search on the perpetrators. Meanwhile, this platform has also sighted a publication on A1 radio where the Talensi Traditional Council also claimed they didn’t send the two victims Chief of Baare, Naab Nyakora Mantii, and the Secretary to the Paramount Chief of Talensi, Richard Sunday Yinbil who are currently under a 6-month bond to influence or entrap Bolga High Court Judge. According to sources available to this platform, Justice Alexander Graham was attacked on Wednesday night which necessitated him to immediately call for security re-enforcement and early dawn on Thursday March 16, he was escorted by the security out of the region. However, with this sad development, NAPAIC-Ghana has pointed that, “There are fears in the region that Justice Alexander Graham would be transferred from the region in the wake of the attack and this would serve as a bad precedent should he be transferred. This is so because anytime judgement would be given against litigants they would resort to this kind of attack on the judge in the hope that the judge would be transferred. This would also discourage judges from working as independently as they should because anytime they uphold the rule of law, the opposition to the rule would deliberately fight back and the only protection for them is to be transferred. We think this would turn the rule of law on its head and undermine our democracy”. “We are pleading with the Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, to as a matter of urgency put together firm security measures to protect the life, family and property of Justice Alexander Graham and to help the Upper East Region by keeping Justice Alexander Graham (the man of the moment) so that we the people of the Upper East Region can experience true justice from the Judiciary”. However, NAPAIC-Ghana has also described the press release by the Talensi Traditional Council signed by Chief of Tindongo, Naab Tampelgsong Kungaadzom as a ‘shameful defence’ insisting that the two were convicted few days ago on their own plea for contempt of court by His Lordship Justice Alexander Graham at the High Court 2 in Bolgatanga. PRESS STATEMENT Good evening to you all, ladies and gentlemen of the press. We wish to welcome you to yet another news conference following the one we, members of the National Patriots against Injustice and Corruption Ghana (NAPAIC-Ghana), held last week. We were shocked yesterday when the news broke that the Acting Upper East Regional Supervising High Court Judge, Justice Alexander Graham, had been escorted out of the region by the state security apparatus for fear of his life. The news also indicated that there was an attack at his private residence on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, by unknown persons. Ladies and gentlemen, you would recall that we mentioned to you the last time we met on Friday, March 10, 2023, that Justice Alexander Graham frankly deserved the title “His Lordship” because of the action he took against the Chief of Baare, Naab Nyakora Mantii, and the Secretary to the Paramount Chief of Talensi, Richard Sunday Yinbil, and we recommended that the Chief Justice of Ghana should reward Justice Alexander Graham. But to our dismay, it was not long after our press conference before the news of the violent attack on Justice Alexander Graham broke and spread. We think this is barbaric, uncalled-for and shameful. It is our strong belief that people who supported the cruel and offensive actions of the agents of the Paramount Chief of Talensi, Tongraan Nanlebegtang Kugbilsong, to entrap and influence Justice Alexander Graham might have carried out the attack or the threat (our opinion) on the judge. We humbly ask the security services, notably the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), to quickly put up an intelligence search on the perpetrators. We are pleading with the Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, to as a matter of urgency put together firm security measures to protect the life, family and property of Justice Alexander Graham and to help the Upper East Region by keeping Justice Alexander Graham (the man of the moment) so that we the people of the Upper East Region can experience true justice from the Judiciary. There are fears in the region that Justice Alexander Graham would be transferred from the region in the wake of the attack and this would serve as a bad precedent should he be transferred. We think this would turn the rule of law on its head and undermine our democracy. We respectfully emphasise that Justice Alexander Graham must stay and continue with his good and exemplary work in the interest of the region without
