The Ghana Premier League transfer deadline day is upon us, with clubs looking to wrap up last-minute deals before the window slams shut at midnight. The window has been open since August. Some clubs have reportedly completed their deals are confident heading into the new season next month. Kotoko have been busiest with as many as 10 new additions to their team thus far. Black Stars coach, Charles Akonnor has given reasons for the inclusion of Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman in his squad for next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan. The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Mallorca, but his spell with the Spanish club was cut short by injuries. West Ham fan banned from football for 3 years for racially abusing Mohammed Salah

A West Ham supporter has been banned from football for three years after pleading guilty to racially abusing Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. The 48-year old Bradley Thumwood from Bexleyheath, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated Section 5 public order offence, the Metropolitan Police said. He was issued with a three-year football banning order, fined £400 and also ordered to pay a victim surcharge and costs amounting to £125. Thumwood had been summonsed in July after being identified by officers during West Ham’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool on January 29. West Ham are to offer Thumwood educational sessions to try to reform his views, “whilst reserving the right to uphold indefinite bans, should those efforts prove unsuccessful.” A West Ham spokesperson said in a press release from the Metropolitan Police: “West Ham United is unequivocal in its stance – we have a zero-tolerance approach to any form of discrimination. “Equality and diversity are at the heart of the football club and we are committed to continue ensuring that everyone who enters London Stadium is free to enjoy watching their team play football in an inclusive environment. “The club works closely with Kick It Out and our fan group BAME Hammers. In conjunction with those parties, the club will offer educational sessions to the individual in question in an effort to reform their views, whilst reserving the right to uphold their indefinite bans, should those efforts prove unsuccessful.” The Metropolitan Police’s dedicated football officer PC Andy Sheldon said: “We do not, and will not tolerate hate crime of any kind at football matches and will take action against those who are found to have committed these kinds of crimes during games. “We are committed to working closely with football clubs to identify anyone behaving inappropriately and breaking the law. The Defunct Bolgatanga Sports Stadium which has been neglected for years has now turned out to be a hideout for marijuana smokers and a place of convenience for commuters. The facility which many says was established in the era of the then military head of state of Ghana, Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, has suffered various forms of neglect from past and present governments to the extent that its walls now begins to fall apart. The situation which can neither be traced nor explained by stakeholders, only compel residents especially sporting lovers to conclude that there was no hope for sporting activities in the region. Some of them who spoke to Apexnewsgh.com say the deteriorated nature of the facility can only be explained in two words that were “sports is dead” in Upper East Region. A resident by name Azure Francis says “Any time I’m passing through here and seeing the walls of the stadium falling apart anger usually engulf me. I usually ask myself, whether authorities that matters mean well for the region sporting activities?” “Is it that there are no leaders who can at least do something small to uplift the state of this stadium? Is it that we here don’t matter when it comes to sports in the region? I can not tell and it is sad, to say the least”, says Anabire John. “If you come here every day earlier in the morning, you will see hundreds of people tripping in as if they are going to watch football but they are going there to either smoke wee or ease themselves. Sadly, a well called for a facility like this laying wasted can only mean one thing that is wickedness”, says Boniface Seidu. Ayine Daniel, says, “We have good sporting brothers and sisters here in the region but we don’t have good sporting fields for training. Bolga here there is no sporting center that we can boost of.
