According to the Tempane District Chief Executive (DCE), inadequate staffing, inadequate registration materials and no availability of a district NIA officer are affecting the SIM Registration exercise in Tempane He complained that another challenge the district is facing is as a result of not having a district registration officer. “We only have one registration officer, the one who manages the system, and another part-time person who is there to assist them. So basically, they are just three working in the district for NIA” “The way they are doing the work, I don’t know whether they don’t want the exercise to flow or what. Unlike when they started the exercise in a day, they could register as many as possible but now is not the case on the ground”. He laments However, he advised the National Identification Authority to make sure they provide sufficient registration materials to fasten the process. He said, some people have been registered for some time now and unfortunately they have not received their cards from NIA. Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana

Paul Abugri Azumah of Tempane shamefully rejected as DCE by Assembly Members
The President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Tempane District Paul Abugri Azumah has witnessed what could be described as a humiliating rejection so far by the Assembly Members. According to the voting which took place on Monday, October 4, 2021, a day after a regional annual delegates conference, the overconfident nominee failed woefully to secure the required two-thirds majority of valid votes. Interesting, out of a total number of 25 Assembly Members mandated to vote, only 11 voted YES, representing 44% whiles 13 voted NO. This is unprecedented so far in the region. Meanwhile, no ballot was spoiled. More to come… Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Tempane Floods: Crocodiles invading homes; MP calls for help
Reports have emerged that crocodiles are straying into homes from flood waters that have engulfed several communities in Tempane, a constituency in the Upper East Region. The predators used to be far away in their natural surroundings. But the floods, running unabated for the past three weeks through the communities from the Tamne Dam in the next-door Garu Constituency, are pushing them closer to homes where some domestic animals are said to have already been devoured by the displaced reptiles prowling overland. Whilst residents are caught in fear’s grip for their lives because of the wandering crocs, scores of children also have not been to school for weeks because the flooding has turned the roads leading to where they learn into rivers. A vast piece of land, which is normally dry and where farmers have grown a variety of food crops enough to feed many mouths for a year, is buried under waters that have covered even economic trees almost to their tops. And as the water level rises with recurrent downpours, the floods also expand, swallowing up more land and vegetation. Some farmers, who now know that their farmlands have no chance as the swelling flood waters advance in their directions, have stopped feeding their ill-fated crops with fertiliser bought with hard-earned money and have abandoned them altogether to the approaching waters. “We don’t wait for the crocodiles to begin to eat people before we come to look at it. Because of the rising level of the water, [the flooding] is affecting the wildlife that is in the dam site. Most of the houses have been infested with crocodiles, snakes and all manner of reptiles that are in the water. We have an instance where a crocodile entered somebody’s house and ate animals. Here, they are peasant farmers. So, if their crops have been affected, what do they have? “We want to plead with the government, NADMO (the National Disaster Management Organisation), civil society organisations and non-governmental organisations to come to their aid. Most of the farmers, their crops have been submerged in the water. If we don’t solve the issue now, there would be hunger in this part of the constituency,” the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tempane, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, remarked when she toured the affected communities on Wednesday. Left Behind Tempane is not alone in grief. Same stories are being told about flooded communities in two surrounding constituencies― Garu and Pusiga. But the predictions heard from informed natives on Wednesday at Tempane did not sound good. With heavier downpours highly expected now and in September, the natives say they can only anticipate more mess. What is ahead might invoke memories of a 2016 flooding disaster that saw a record number of red-earth residential structures particularly in the rural areas of the region dissolve in flood waters completely from the foundation level like cubes of sugar dropped in a steaming cup of tea. The affected houses in need of intervention today, according to the MP, were not considered to be at risk of being flooded before the construction of the Tamne Dam began in 2016 to irrigate 3,250 acres of land. The handlers of the irrigation dam project reportedly resettled only some houses they thought would be affected in future flooding events. In other words, the situation the affected households now find themselves would have been prevented had “the government and the engineers” not left them behind. “We are appealing to the government and the engineers of this project to look at it again. They have resettled other people. But there are some people that still need resettlement. We are crying now because this is the rainy season and the peak of it has not started yet. From now until September ends, it’s going to be serious― very, very serious. The water level is going to rise more than this. We are pleading with the government to resettle those houses that have not been resettled,” stressed the lawmaker, surrounded by a crowd of affected constituents. An elderly woman, Fauzia Issaka, told newsmen about her goats and sheep being attacked and consumed by crocodiles. She expressed fears the reptiles would do same to any child they stumbled across. Some children, interacting with Starr News, voiced their worries alike, urging the government to initiate a resettlement action, get them back in school in time and provide them with food “because the floods have buried our parents’ farmlands as you can see”. “We are happy with the dam but there are so many things also affecting us. The water has taken over the [roads]. We can’t cross again. Initially, motorking (a motorised tricycle) used to charge us Gh¢2 from Gagbiri to Garu through that short path. And now that the water has taken over that road, we have to go and pass through Tempane to Garu, which now costs us Gh¢8. We spend more time indoors with our children because of the crocodiles outdoors. “It has been very difficult for our children’s education now. Our children have not been going to school. Animals like snakes are biting us and we don’t have a health centre here. Our farmlands where we have farmed onions, rice, maize and millet have been submerged. Look at our deprived area. They relocated only eleven houses and a church. Government needs to relocate more houses,” the Assemblyman for Gagbiri-Natinga, Akuka Halidu Iddrisu, told journalists. — Starrfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Tempane NPP constituency denied petitioning President, as DCE reacts.
The District Chief Executive for Tempane District of the Upper East Region Paul Abugri Azumah has responded to the December 15, 2020, purported petition against him coming from one Anthony Sandow as a convener. According to the accused District Chief Executive Mr. Azumah who spoke to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com, all that the convener said in the purported petition was nothing than a fabrication of lies to dent his hard-earned reputation. “There is no party Executive whose name is there. No Constituency Executive, no electoral area coordinator, no party elder, no patron, constituency polling executive NO. Currently, all of them have been denied except only two. So, from our investigations, that is what the Executives are trying to respond to. Somebody wrote and puts people’s name and then phone numbers. Because the party Executives and other people are hot on the petitioners because they have no knowledge of it and one of those who wrote it called and said they were going to write a petition but they never saw the content and it was some time ago, it was 3 days after the election that they called them, so they never knew it was because of the petition they were calling them.” “So, we have asked them to come out and deny the Petition. Is two of them, one Anthony Sandow the convener, I am using him as an example because currently, everything that is coming out shows that he is the one going to the radio stations. This Particular gentleman said in the petition that, I am not accessible to people, that I don’t stay in my constituency, the unfortunate thing is that people just go and write something to make it look credible. You are saying I don’t stay in the constituency? Or moved into the constituency a month ago, that’s a lie.” “I came to office in 2018 August 7, the day I was sworn in and started work by the end of August 27th or so and there was no any accommodation for me in the constituency. So, I stayed in my bungalow in Bawku Sec Tech where I teach, that was where I was teaching before I got appointed, because the BNI advised that where I was staying security was not all that good, so I should look for this thing, so where I was, was better for me. So, permission was taken by the Regional Minister everybody up to the local government and they told me I should be there, whiles they work for the accommodation. But Garu has not given us accommodation. So, in May 2020 they finish the accommodation because it was handed over to them in January 2020. So, currently since may I have been in KUGRAGO that is where the building.” “So, is never true that am not accessible and that Anthony Sandow mother, is the KUGRAGO women group leader and she has been coming to me with the women, sometimes 120 of them 100 and they do meetings in my residence, during the campaign the mother used to be in my car and we go round. He Anthony Sandow, a certain point in time, our MP bought a bus for him through a company and the MP bought and paid half and he is supposed to do work and pay and he couldn’t pay and the company came for the bus and he came home and said MP has made him lose his job and was campaigning for the NDC Parliamentary candidate, I got the information and I called him to my residence and advised him to stop that thing. Just about 2 to 3 months ago, he went and the MP settled him with a motorbike and started now working for the MP. The question is those people you removed out of the party when he was peeved, was he able to bring all of them back?” Below is the Press release: NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY, TEMPANE CONSTITUENCY 21ST DECEMBER, 2020. RE-PETITION FOR THE REMOVAL FROM OFFICE, THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR TEMPANE DISTRICT- HON. PAUL AZUMAH ABUGRI Party Elders, Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, Friends of Kpemka, Youth for Kpemka, Osonoma Group, Party Supporters, The Media, Ladies and Gentlemen we express our gratitude to you for your swift response to our call on the subject matter above. On behalf of the Constituency Executives and the Electoral Area Coordinators of the Tempane Constituency, we want to state unequivocally without any fear of contradiction that we the Constituency Executive Hierarchy with all the Subsidiary Arms have no fore knowledge about the said petition as claimed by the petitioners. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Media, our thorough investigation after the release of the so-called petition revealed that such group superimposing themselves to be known as Youth Patriots do not actually exist. And no form of consultation whatsoever has been carried out with the Party Executives before such press release. It is with much regret to mention that peoples’ whose names were listed to be part of the petition denied with disdain as being associated with such ‘ungodly act’ when they were called. The Constituency Executives wish to use this medium to call on all well-meaning individuals whose names have been wrongfully included to the list of petitioners to do the needful by officially disassociated themselves using the Party’s Grievance Redress Procedures at the Constituency Level. The Media present, Ladies and Gentlemen, as Constituency Executives we want to urge all party supporters and well-meaning Ghanaians to disregard the above publications and treat it with the greatest contempt it deserves. The Member of Parliament, The District Chief Executive, The Deputy CEO of Youth Employment Agency, The Deputy CEO of Northern Development Authority, Party Executives and other Party Supporters in the Constituency were seen campaigning together peacefully and it is never true that the District Chief Executive is the cause of the Member of Parliament’s defeat in the Tempane Constituency. UER: NPP Youth Wing, Executive and Members Petitioned President over Tempane…..
Information gathered by Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com has it that, executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its members numbering 42 in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region have Petitioned the President to remove the District Chief Executive (DCE) Paul Abugri Azumah because, it is alleged he aided the National Democratic Congress and their Parliamentary Candidate to snatch the seat away from the ruling party in the just ended December 7, 2020, elections. Below is the full details: THE YOUNG PATRIOTS, TEMPANE CONSTITUENCY, UPPER EAST REGION. 15TH DECEMBER, 2020. THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA, C/O THE CHIEF OF STAFF, OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, JUBILEE HOUSE, ACCRA, GHANA. His Excellency, PETITION FOR THE REMOVAL FROM OFFICE, THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR TEMPANE DISTRICT – HON. PAUL ABUGRI AZUMAH The Youth Wing of our great NPP Party in Tempane District and Constituency collectively and unanimously wish to petition His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo (President of the Republic of Ghana) to remove Honorable Paul Abugri Azumah from office with immediate effect in order to curtail further intended actions of the youth in the Tempane District which may be detrimental to the party’s chances to take back the Parliamentary seat from NDC in 2024. The Youth has already carried out Post-elections assessment of the issues that led to our inability to retain the seat in the 2020 elections in the Tempane Constituency. The bases of this petition is largely reflective of our main findings that, the DCE since his appointment has continuously worked not to improve the fortunes of the Party on whose government, he had the opportunity to serve the good people of Tempane as a whole. The Petitioners have extensively consulted and held a general Constituency meeting and these allegations are leveled against the DCE. His last two years in office, he exhibited poor relationship with NPP supporters thereby making them to lose faith with the government and the party as well. Traditional leaders definitely have influenced over their subjects and traditional jurisdictions in our culture. The DCE’s working relationships with the chiefs has been very appalling which soured the affection of these leaders with the government. He failed to show his contributions to the 2020 election activities in both material and political activism to enhance the fortunes of our great party; his failure to attend important party meetings and rallies organized by various groups in the election season buttresses the point made above. He did not campaign vigorously and refused to make definite political statements in favor of the Parliamentary candidate and the President on campaign grounds His alleged involvement in the elections of Assembly Members to favor the NDC has manifested in the recent District level elections since the elected assembly members on the side of the NDC had an overwhelming majority. Invariably, these elected assembly members campaigned for the NDC party and the electorates heeded to their call and voted massively for the NDC party in the constituency He is not accessible to the people in the District since he resides outside the District. This decision of his has obviously distanced him from the people and their concerns have been left unattended to by him. As it is common knowledge in the District that, Hon. Paul Abugri Azumah is not approachable by party sympathizers and people of the Tempane District. In 2017, he incited a section of the Youth within the constituency to protest against the appointment of Honourable Asore Emmanuel Avoka as the DCE for then Garu – Tempane District. This incident led to the burning of posters of His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo and Hon. Joseph Dindiok Kpemka. Since his selfish action, it has dampen the party’s morale in that particular enclave where the needless protestation took place. Unfair distribution of opportunities such as Scholarships for tertiary students, youth employment, Common Fund disbursements among others. It is mind blowing to realize that through the DCE, about fifty (50) women who are not voters in the Tempane District were served the MASLOC loans meant for business women in the Tempane District. This issue immensely cost us votes. This same issue of serving outsiders manifested in the scholarships and youth employment opportunities. Items and logistics meant for campaign that were under his watch were not released timely and wholly for the intended purpose. He failed to ensure with the party executives that logistics and items given by the party were effectively allocated to areas and individuals who needed them for smooth running of campaign in the constituency. Lack of interest shown by him in defending and explaining government policies and projects in order to inform the general public in the District. That his unpatriotic conduct to the party gave room to the opponents to preach the gospel of lies to the constituents to diminish the chances of the party. He was considered as an object of distractive politics and penetration against the party by the NDC for reasons best known to himself. This is traceable to the fact that he was spotted in a closed-door meeting with high profile NDC bigwigs at Bolgatanga. The agenda was to ensure that NPP does not win Tempane seat. It is interesting to notice that, the aftermath of the said “Nicodemus” meeting gave birth to the allegation that the Hon. DCE got his palms greased financially by the NDC to overturn the NPP’s victory mission in the constituency. Although he openly accepted that the NDC met him but he rejected the offer of money from the NDC bigwigs, we believe that he took the money because he did work for them. Evidence is that NPP woefully lost at Honorable DCE’s polling station. In view of the above concerns raised by the youth of Tempane, we unanimously agreed and came into terms with the following conclusions; The DCE continuous stay in the office will further derail the fortunes of the party going forward The youth will cease to work for the party since leaders like him
