411 of 465 ‘8As’ WASSCE students from Ghana – Akufo-Addo

On Friday, 30th April 2021, eight out of the 411 “Akufo-Addo Graduates”, i.e. the first beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy, who obtained 8As in the 2020 WASSCE were at Jubilee House at the invitation of President Nana Akufo-Addo. “Indeed, 411 out of the 465 candidates who scored 8As in the 2020 WASSCE were students from Ghana, and beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy”, the president said on his Facebook page. Again, 2020 was the only year that 50% of Ghanaian students scored A1 to C6 in all core subjects, he added. NEWS IN: 2020 WAEC Provisional Results Released

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the most awaited provisional results of the 2020 West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE). NEWS IN: WAEC Released WASSCE 2020 Provisional Results “This follows the completion of all post-examination processes,” WAEC said in a statement on Friday, November 13. According to WAEC, the results of the candidates will be dispatched to their various schools. However, candidates have been advised to contact their heads of school for their results. The 2020 WASSCE began on July 20, 2020 with 375,763 candidates from 976 schools. NEWS IN: WAEC Released WASSCE 2020 Provisional Results   NEWS IN: WAEC Released WASSCE 2020 Provisional Results   Meanwhile, WAEC has stated the 2020 WASSCE have seen a lot of improvement “…the provisional results indicate that there were improvements in the performance of candidates at Grades A1 to C6 in English Language and Mathematics (Core) in 2020 as compared to 2019. “On the other hand, Integrated Science and Social Studies recorded a decline in the performance of the candidates at Grades A1 to C6 as compared to 2019.” WAEC says the subject results of 2,383 candidates have been cancelled for “engaging in collusion, bringing foreign material to the examination hall and tearing part of their question paper to solicit assistance”. The entire results of 480 candidates have also been cancelled for bringing mobile phones to the exam hall. The entire results of 384 candidates have also been withheld pending conclusion of investigations into various cases of exam malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the examinations.
