The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially applauded the recent political and economic report by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), as they described it as a “constructive analysis” According to a statement signed by the Party National Communication Director Yaw Buaben Asamoa: “This is because objective analysis extends the democratic tenet of free speech, and provides perspectives capable of informing policy reform”. The NPP however, acknowledges that the EIU has a record of reviewing Ghana’s governance systems, especially potential political outcomes. “To buttress its prediction of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) winning the presidential election and the parliamentary elections by a slim margin in 2024, the EIU touts its record of successful predictions over the years.” “If NDC wins, it will not be news. But if the NPP wins, it would be a remarkable achievement that would demonstrate the coming of age of electoral politics in Ghana,”. Yaw Buaben Asamoa said. Meanwhile, the NPP victory in 2024, is targeted on, “Breaking the Eight (8)” would be a more uncommon occurrence than an NDC victory, based on the history of elections in the Fourth Republic. The NPP noted, however, that EIU introduced a “new and significant double-edged factor” into the eight-year cycle, and said this is “the quality of leadership.” The “EIU implies that former President Mahama’s record of leadership is so poor that if he becomes the candidate, the NDC’s predicted win goes up in smoke,”. Pointing that, “this is a huge boost to the NPP’s effort of ‘Breaking the Eight (8) since we are confident that the NPP candidate will have a better governance record based on the cumulative achievements of the NPP in the Fourth Republic.” “But more importantly, NDC has not demonstrated any policy capacity capable of turning out better and faster outcomes in the areas listed. Indeed, the tendency is for the NDC to set the country back in respect of these factors whenever the eight-year cycle kicks in. The NPP builds and the NDC destroys. “Political stability is also a product of the NPP’s quiet yet hard work on the security front. Notwithstanding increased threats of regional instability spilling over into Ghana, piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, and sometimes very extremist talk from anarchic elements, the EIU predicts without hesitation that there will be political stability over the next five years. A plus for free, fair, and violence-free elections,” Yaw Buaben Asamoa said. Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. What government Canceled is Public road tolls not private–Buaben Asamoah
The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoah has revealed that what the government has canceled is public road tolls and private road tolls. Apexnewsgh.com report According to him, the cancellation of the public road tolls was as a result of lack of equality and equity. “We are cheating the people who stay where the road tolls are. Because the government has its own toll areas and those people who lived and used the tolls are suffering because they are paying and the rest are getting the benefits and are not paying”. Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoah, made the clarification during an exclusive interview with Apexnews-Ghana on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. He believes the road toll levy wasn’t fair for all Ghanaians because only a few pay whiles others enjoy it. “What we have canceled is public road tolls and not private road tolls because, in some areas in the world, private people can build road and toll it to recover their money, we are not there yet. So, we have public road tolls. We have abolished public road tolls. “So, if you lived in Kasoa and there is a toll there and used trotro it means when you go in the morning you pay Gh1.00 and coming in the evening you pay another Ghc1.00 and that is Ghc 2.00 a day. Calculate 6 days a week that is Ghc 12.00. So, a trotro driver who works at Kasoa will pay road tolls but a trotro driver who is working at Nima to Roman ridge will never pay some. It is not fair. So because the road tolls points are not many and not many public roads are been tolled, what is happening is that those who lived in the area where the tolls are, are paying an indirect tax to the government and the rest of us are enjoying that tax-free and we are all getting good roads in spite of that. “It is also very inconvenience because that creates a lot of traffic and when that traffic is created, two things happen, we waste fuel and we waste production time. We waste fuel because you are sitting in the traffic burning fuel, you cannot switch off your engine and when your engine is running you are creating pollution. Aside from that, the time the person in the car who is going to work has wasted is also another thing. Aside that, when they keep stopping at the toll, they also spoil the roads very fast because of the heavy movement there and the money government is getting from there is not also enough”. Ranting won’t make Ghanaians re-elect you – Buaben Asamoa tells Mahama
The Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa, says former President John Dramani Mahama is ranting because he thinks Ghanaians will re-elect him in 2024. Former President John Dramani Mahama is currently on a ‘Thank You” tour which will end today, November 10, 2021. John Dramani Mahama during his tour said the Akufo-Addo government intends to increase taxes, as it prepares to present the 2022 budget. He said the economy had been run into a ditch and that the country is reeling under debt and wonders how much more hardship the people of Ghana can endure under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. He called on the Akufo-Addo administration to up its game in dealing with the hardships Ghanaians are saddled with at the moment. “So, the economy has been run into a ditch and I know that in a few days’ time, they will read the budget and it’s the intention of this government to increase taxes and increase tariffs on electricity and water and all that… How much more hardship can the people of Ghana take?” he wondered, adding: “We, as the NDC, will play our part and give a voice to the voiceless and let people in authority know what the people of Ghana are going through and, so, we shall play our role properly as the opposition in this country,” Mahama said during the tour. Addressing the comments of the former President in an interview with the host of ATINKA FM’s Am Drive, Yaw Buaben Asamoa explained that the former President is still peeved considering the margin with which he was defeated in the 2020 general elections. According to Buaben Asamoa, the NPP is focused and will continue to work in the interest of Ghanaians. “If you are in opposition and you want the people to re-elect you this is how you speak and so some of these comments we the NPP will not worry our head. He just wants to win the hearts of Ghanaians with the rants. He was in power and we knew what he did. If Ghanaians really liked what he did during his tenure, they would have re-elected him,” Buaben Asamoa told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim. —Atinkaonline Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. NPP to supporters: Be calm; respect Akufo-Addo’s MMDCE nominees
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on its rank and file to remain calm and respect the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s list of nominees for metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs). The much-expected list, according to government officials, would be made public anytime soon. Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday 17 September 2021, the Director of communications of the NPP, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, accepted the fact that, not every person will have his or her preferred candidate nominated, but asked members to welcome the president’s decision. “We urge everybody to be calm and to act in ways that promote good relations at a working level in order to give the nominees the best possible opportunity to work in the interest of the grassroots of the nation,” he stated. The selection process, according to the NPP’s communications director, reflects the President’s vision for “our local governance system and country at large”. “Now that the selection process is over, we urge all former contestants and stakeholders to adopt the nominees as their own, encourage smooth confirmation processes, and support approved MMDCEs to deliver the best to their areas. Once the list is published, competition in any form, ought to end,” he said. The party also advised the nominees to, as much as possible, be open and provide space for divergent opinions. On the party’s ongoing registration of its members, Asamoa expressed concerns about how some officers are preventing some members from registering, thinking that, the register will be used for internal elections. “Party officer election registers shall be compiled differently and will be done later per guidelines to be issued… So, we are assuring all our polling station executives to open up, work hard and try and capture as many persons who are likely to vote NPP as possible. The names should also go into the books that have been provided. Names in any other book not provided by the party for this exercise will not be valid or properly captured,” Asamoa said. —asaaseradio Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Go and beg Jean Mensa for forgiveness – Buaben Asamoa advises Mahama
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Director of Communications, Yaw Buaben Asamoa believes former President Mahama owes the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa an unqualified apology. He argues the former President needs to apologize to the EC Chairperson for accusing her of rigging election 2020 to favor the ruling NPP, when he has known all the while that “elections are won at the polling station.” On his accord, the former President proved with a recent interview that he wasted the time of Ghanaians and the Supreme Court for dragging the outcome of election 2020 to the highest court of the land. “President Mahama has accepted that victory comes from the polling station so why did he tarnish the image of Jean Mensa after the 2020 polls? He needs to seek forgiveness from the EC chair and tell Ghanaians how much he wronged them for disturbing the nation with a frivolous election petition. He accused the EC of election rigging when he knows one has to be diligent at the polling station if they want to win an election,” he shared with Raymond Nyamador on the Happy Morning Show. The politician revealed the ruling NPP learned the hard lesson at the 2013 election petition and has since then put in place measures to keenly monitor elections at the polling station. Yaw Buaben Asamoa noted the NPP’s system makes sure they collate results of an election at most 6 hours after the polls close. “Winning an election is all about being diligent at the polling station and monitoring events but not with violence as posited by former President Mahama with his do or die slogan. It is all about preparation,” he intimated. He notes that democracy is not about violence and asserted the NPP embodies peace. “The NPP abhors violence and we plead with Mahama to do away with violence. As the NPP, we will be diligent and ensure we win the election peacefully.” Background Former President John Dramani Mahama who contested the 2020 elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, took the Electoral Commission to court after they declared the results. He sought to challenge the validity of results and the subsequent declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the winner. A seven-member panel of the country’s top court Judges’ dismissed the election petition in a unanimous decision, saying the case had no merit. Former President John Mahama is fighting off claims that his recent comments may be a prediction of violence in the next general elections. Mr Mahama says his utterance regarding a ‘do or die’ affair at polling stations in 2024 has been misconstrued by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). During his ‘Thank You’ tour, John Mahama reiterated this suspicion on Tuesday, September 7, that; “we were clearly robbed, but we accepted the verdict for the sake of peace.” “But I want to state here that the next elections would be won or lost at the polling station. So at the polling station, it will be do or die. I am not saying all die be die. I’m saying it will be ‘do or die’ because the right thing must be done,” he told Techiman-based Akina FM. etvghana Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. There is hardship in Ghana, I know this as a fact – Dep. Finance Minister
A Deputy Finance Minister has admitted that indeed Ghana is hard, reechoing sentiments former President John Dramani Mahama Mahama has been accused of spreading when, in fact, according to the ruling party, there is no hardship. It will be recalled that Mr. Mahama has claimed that poor management of the country under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, has led to unprecedented levels of hardship in the country. In response, the NPP’s Director of Communication, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, said at a news conference that the country is in a good state, and that President Akufo-Addo is working hard to increase productivity and improve livelihoods. He thus suggested that the former president is poisoning the minds of Ghanaians that times are hard when it is not true. In further response, Mr. Mahama also slammed the governing New Patriotic Party for suggesting that he’s the one fueling a perception of hardship in the country. Now, however, a deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, who is also Member of Parliament for Ejisu has confessed that times are hard. He was speaking on an Okay FM interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com. According to him, the hardship is not limited to Ghana, and that it is a global phenomenon. “It [hardship] is not only in Ghana, it is global. There is hardship everywhere. It is caused by Covid-19… hardship has led to a rise in prices. Check from America, Europe, Canada and elsewhere. A container we used to import from China at $3500 today it is $13,500. Call them and ask them. Over there, what they used to buy at $5 is now $15 dollars, that’s what’s happening all over the world. It is ship cost that has made things expensive.” Mr. Kumah explained. “That is why there is hardship in Ghana. But we are making efforts to reduce the hardship. We have brought Free SHS to reduce the burden. The Ghc2000 Ghc3000 you need to pay fees has been taken off. We have reduced electricity for life line consumers. We are paying teachers and nursing trainees.” He added. On Cedi depreciation, he had an explanatio: “It is true that the cedi has gone to 6cedis but as Mr. Bawumia said, it is also doing better. This is one of the best times for any government in Ghana. This year the cedi has depreciated by 1.8% … The whole of 2020, it depreciated by 4.5%.” —MyNewsGh.com Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. ‘It’s too early to start campaigning’ – NPP cautions flagbearer hopefuls
The Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa has described as indecent and uncalled-for, the activities of party members who have started campaigning as potential aspirants for the NPP flagbearer position ahead of the 2024 general elections. He has advised such interested persons to exercise restraint and focus on helping the NPP achieve its goals for President Akufo-Addo’s second term in office. This comes on the back of the resurfacing of some fliers and posters of Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen and Minister for Agriculture, Owusu Akoto Afriyie on social media and at vantage points in Accra and other parts of the country. Some party executives have already condemned the act and called for a ceasefire. Speaking to Citi News, Yaw Buaben Asamoa mentioned that, “it is important that the candidates exercise some restraint. That self-restraint will demonstrate that they believe in the future of the NPP. They believe that the performance of this government is what will give them victory in 2024. They believe that they are part of a team and must act as members of that team.” “Right now, what are you fighting for or aspiring to? The President has just won an election and inaugurated and delivered his State of the Nation Address. The President’s budget for the second term has just been read. So what are you fighting to succeed? It’s simply too early”, he added. In the meantime, the party has hinted that it will soon come out with guidelines to streamline the campaign activities of Members. “The party will come out with guidelines. We are busily working on that. So there will be guidelines”, Yaw Buaben Asamoa noted. Earlier, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahene, also, criticized persons who have started campaigning . Campaign activities are yet to be sanctioned by the National Executive Committee and the National Council of the party. The governing party is expected to hold its presidential primary in 2023. citinewsroom Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
