The Head of the monitoring and evaluation division at GIPC Dr. George Asafo-Agyei advised residents and businessmen and women in the Upper East Region to take their business through a normal registration process to enable them to benefit from any business opportunities.

Dr. Asafo-Agyei made the call during a regional investment forum organized by Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

However, Dr. Asafo-Agyei revealed, that the purpose of the forum in the region is to create awareness about GIPC service offering and to identify investment opportunities for promotion.

Asking whether GIPC has identified some investment opportunities in the Upper East Region, the Head of the monitoring and evaluation division at GIPC Dr. Asafo-Agyei pointed to Mining, shea butter, tourism, and many more other investment opportunities.

 Meanwhile, in the area of some already collapsed factories in the region such as Pwalugu tomatoes factory and the meat factory in Zaurungu, Dr. Asafo-Agyei said: “there are others that need some revamping and so, we are going to profile all of them to make sure we are able to market them for investors to come and participate those areas”.

Meanwhile, some participants at the GIPC regional investment forum confirmed, that the engagement has taught them how they can go about their business registration and even how to approach the third party themselves without involving middlemen. Other things learned include how to raise capital for their businesses and how to invest.

DCEs of various district and municipal assemblies in the region were part of the business investment forum.
