According to a report by Gaspard Ayuureneeya sighted by Apexnewsgh.com, a 33-year-old Alukre Baba Ibrahim and his girl lover Firdaus (a 26-year-old seamstress) are currently standing trial in a Bolgatanga magistrate court for allegedly killing a 55-year-old Abokum-Ayamga Abolga.
The victim on November 10, 2021 met his horrific death when he was butchered with a machete following a misunderstanding between him and the suspect over a parcel of land.
The suspect who is a mason in Yorogo community of the Bolgatanga municipality is said to have advanced in a deal in selling off a parcel of land to buy a motorbike for his girl lover , but a misunderstanding ensued between the two . The deceased who is an uncle to the suspect was said to have been severely butchered to death on the spot in his house at Yorogo in the Bolgatanga municipality of the Upper East Region.
After killing his uncle, the suspect carried the corpse on his shoulder and dumped it on the road to fake a road traffic accident scene.
In an attempt to burn the blood-stained shirt used by the suspect at the time of the act so as to cover-up, Firdaus was arrested. She has since been charged with abetment of crime, while Alukre Baba Ibrahim has been charged with murder.
Lawyer for the suspects is against the arrest and charge levelled against the second suspect. He told word news that she only came into the scene after the crime was allegedly committed and was only instructed to burn the shirt and as such has not abetted in any way.
Lawyer Tahidu Lawal through the court requested that his clients be handled with dignity devoid of torture while in remand.
They have since been remanded into police custody as police requested for more time to conclude investigations. They are to re-appear on November 29.
