The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has issued a stern directive to the University of Ghana, demanding the recovery of a staggering $383,000 from various debtors by December 31.

This move comes after an Auditor General’s report exposed long-standing debts owed to the university by several institutions, some dating back an astonishing nine years.

Prominent companies and organizations, including Telecel Ghana, Airteltigo, MultiChoice, NABPTEX, Pro Credit Savings and Loans Limited (now Fidelity Bank), and Crystal TV, are among those listed as debtors. The report revealed that these entities have accumulated significant debts, which have remained unpaid for nearly a decade.

During a recent parliamentary sitting, the Public Accounts Committee stressed the need for the university to take swift and decisive action to recover these outstanding amounts.

The committee’s directive emphasizes the urgency of the situation, and the university is expected to take immediate action to retrieve the funds.
