20 members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who filed nominations to contest certain positions at the upcoming Constituency internal election have been disqualified by the Vetting Committee in the Upper East Region. Apexnewsgh.com report
A number of applicants totaling 821 filed to contest various positions across all 15 constituencies in the Upper East region. Meanwhile, only 801 were in good standing and qualified to battle various positions across various constituencies in the region.
Builsa North and South received the highest number of disqualifications in the region as far as the NDC constituency election is concerned.
Out of 42 applicants who filed their nomination to contest various positions in Builsa South, 5 were disqualified.
Out of 50 applicants who filed their nomination to contest various positions in Builsa North, 5 were disqualified
In Navrongo Central, out of 75 who filed to contest, 1 was disqualified. In Chana/ Paga, out of 63 who filed to contest, only 1 was disqualified.
Bolgatanga Central 48 filed, Bongo 53 filed, Talensi 60 filed and Nabdam 48 filed, Bawku Central 49 filed and Binduri 69 filed to contest and they all went through.
Out of 45 applicants who filed their nomination to contest various positions in Bolga East, 2 were disqualified.
In Zebilla out of 64 applicants who filed their nomination to contest various positions 1 is disqualified and 1 withheld.
Out of 61 applicants who filed their nomination to contest various positions in Pusiga, 2 were disqualified and 1 absent and in Garu out of 54 who filed, 2 opted after vetting. And Tempane, 40 filed to contest and 1 was qualified.
However, the expected total number of polling stations are 1492 and 359 electoral area.
