Vandalism Strikes EOCO Headquarters: Statue of COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah Destroyed

In a shocking turn of events, the statue of COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), has been vandalized at the agency’s headquarters.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 7, 2025, around 11:30 AM, when unidentified individuals stormed the premises and defaced the statue.

Despite the presence of two security officers, they were unable to prevent the act of vandalism. The statue, which was unveiled in October 2024, had sparked public controversy, with many questioning the decision to honour COP Addo-Danquah in such a manner.

The statue was commissioned by EOCO staff to celebrate their Executive Director’s leadership and service. The surrounding area had also been named “Obaatanpa Tiwaa Gardens” in her honour. However, the gesture was met with criticism, particularly on social media, where many argued that the staff did not have the authority to install the bust without official government approval.

The vandalism incident has raised concerns about the security and safety of EOCO’s premises and personnel. An investigation into the matter is likely to be launched to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
