The Appointments Committee of Parliament is gearing up to vet eight ministerial nominees today, January 30, 2025. Apexnewsgh reports
The process kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, the Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, being the first to appear before the committee.
Next in line is Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, the Minister-designate for Environment, Science, and Technology, scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Other nominees set to face the committee include Samuel Nartey George for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, and Kofi Iddie Adams for Sports and Recreation.
After a brief recess, the proceedings will resume at 12:30 p.m. with Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, Joseph Bukari Nikpe for Transport, and Issifu Seidu, the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability. The final nominee to be vetted will be Mrs. Charity Gardiner, the Ahafo Regional Minister-designate.
The vetting process aims to assess each nominee’s competence, vision, and suitability for their respective ministerial roles before parliamentary approval.
This comes after President Mahama recently nominated 12 more regional and sector ministers, including Haruna Iddrisu as Minister of Education designate.
However, on today’s vetting, there are 3 Minister designate to watch, and they are: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Samuel Nartey George, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
