Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has acknowledged that while the NPP government has created an unprecedented 2.1 million jobs for the youth over the past 7 years, there is still more work to be done due to the increasing youth population in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch of the YEA’s latest initiative, the Business and Employment Assistance Programme in Sunyani, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the government’s commitment to job creation, stating that they have created more jobs than any previous administration in Ghana’s history.
He highlighted the importance of addressing unemployment and improving job creation in both the public and private sectors. While proud of the 2.1 million jobs created, Dr. Bawumia expressed the need to do more considering that the youth make up a significant percentage of the country’s population.
He stressed that the youth are a valuable resource, and it is the nation’s collective responsibility to enable them to contribute to the economic development of Ghana.
The Business and Employment Support Programme, launched by Dr. Bawumia, aims to support the growth of MSMEs by providing financial assistance to skilled workers and facilitating the hiring of more young entrepreneurs to foster the expansion of small and medium scale businesses. This program is expected to benefit approximately 10,000 businesses and 20,000 youth.
