Apexnewsgh

The King and Overlord of Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-kunuto Jewu Soale I, has expressed satisfaction with matters involving the Damongo Chieftaincy and the Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, Samuel A. Jinapor, following a meeting at the Jakpa Palace on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Apexnewsgh reports

The meeting, attended by government officials, was a culmination of efforts to resolve the issue that led to the Yagbonwura banning the Minister from entering the Jakpa Palace and other palaces within the Kingdom. The ban was lifted after the Minister explained his side of the story, reaffirming his respect for the Chieftaincy institution and the Yagbonwura.

The Yagbonwura, pleased with the Minister’s humility and commitment to resolving the matter, blessed him as his proud grandson and welcomed him to the palaces. The resolution comes after a delegation led by the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, met with the Yagbonwura to address the issue.

Meanwhile, supporters of a claimant to the Damongo skin have called on the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs to deliver its judgment in the pending chieftaincy dispute, which has been before the Judicial Committee since 2016. The judgment is necessary to bring finality to the dispute and prevent recurrent clashes between the disputing parties and their supporters.
