UER: Avoiding those who worked for the Party could be a factor for our defeat– Boniface Gambila

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nabdam constituency of the Upper East Region and the 2020 Party Parliamentary candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party Boniface Gambila has told Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com that one of the reasons the NPP lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7, election in the region, could also be as a result of the party avoiding those who suffered to bring the party to power. Speaking exclusively to Apexnewgh.com on December 17, 2020, said those who oppose the party during the 2016 general election were rather considered given job opportunities whereas those who suffered to bring the party to power were avoided and sidelined even though they equally have good and better qualifications to enable them to acquire same positions. He believes, these are some of the reasons the party lost massively in the Upper East Region which had resulted in Upper East losing the 3 seats the party already suffered for in 2016. “You are going to create jobs, after creating the jobs, those who fought for you, you didn’t put them in the job and you end up putting those opposing you onto the jobs. Meanwhile, those who fought for you and the party also have good qualifications, they are strong and very loyal to you and you leave them out of the jobs and those who fought because they also have qualifications even though some don’t really have better qualifications and yet because once you put one of them, he pulls the others. So, they have their various groups. These are real facts.” Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 05555568093.

THE NDC HAS NO CASE; DON’T JOIN THEIR DEMONSTRATION-PART 1—Aziz Adam Kobilla

In 2016, the then EC chairperson and the returning officer of the 2016 presidential elections, Madam Charlotte Osei declared the outcome of the polls without four constituencies; Afram Plains North, Upper West Akim, Sawla Tuna Kalba and Tamale Central. These four constituencies have a combined voter population of 220,270. Madam Charlotte Osei declared the results of the two main parties as follows: Nana Akufo Addo (NPP)= 5,716,026 (53.85%) John Mahama (NDC)=4,713,277 ( 44.40%) This yielded a difference of 1,002,749 ( 9.45%) between the two main contenders. Madam Charlotte Osei explained that the votes of the four constituencies left out in the declaration is immaterial no matter their outcome to the Presidential polls hence the reason she went ahead to declare the results without them. The gazetted results ( NPP and NDC) for the 2016 presidential polls were later published as follows: Nana Akufo Addo (NPP)=5,773,299(53.6%) John Mahama (NDC)=4,800,737(44.6%) Difference =972,562. Fast forward, this year, the EC under a new boss and returning officer, Madam Jean Mensah declared H E President Nana Akufo Addo the winner of the 2020 presidential elections without Techiman South Constituency. The results declared for the two main contenders are as follows; Nana Akufo Addo( NPP)=6,730,413 (51.595%) John Mahama (NDC)=6,214,889(47.366%) With a difference of 515,524 between the winner and his closest contender. According to Madam Jean Mensah, Techiman South Constituency has a total voter population of 128,018 and so if all these votes were added to the votes of the second contender it cannot cancel out the excess votes ( 515,524) between the winner and his closest contender. She further stress that in as much as the percentages will alter if such a situation happens but the winner as she declared would have obtained 50.8% which is beyond the required percentage to triumph in any presidential election as posited by the constitution of the republic of Ghana hence the reason she went ahead with the declaration. It is important to note that this article sort to address two issues as being advanced by the leadership of the NDC that resulted in the incessant demonstration we are seeing on our streets on daily basis by supporters of the NDC. Point 1: the NDC argued that why will EC declare the 2020 presidential polls minus the Techiman South Constituency? This argument appears sensible but in actual sense it is deceptive. It is important to remind the NDC and ourselves that the 2016 presidential election was declared without FOUR CONSTITUENCIES as established above but it was accepted by all. Drawing from the above experiences, what the two EC bosses-cum-returning officers sort to educate us is that declaration of results can be done with some outstanding figures provided those figures outstanding cannot significantly alter the declared results. Mathematically, in the case of 2016 if all the 220,270 votes from the four constituencies that were outstanding were added to the votes of the second contender in this case John Mahama it wouldn’t have been enough to offset the over 1 million votes difference between Nana Akufo Addo and John Mahama. Moreover, Nana Akufo Addo percentage would have still remained above the over 50% + 1 votes. Similarly, if all the 128,018 votes from the Techiman South Constituency is added to John Mahama during the just ended 2020 polls it cannot cancel out the 515,524 votes difference between Nana Akufo Addo and John Mahama and Nana Akufo Addo will maintain a percentage higher than 50% +1 votes. This means waiting or not waiting for the outstanding results from the four constituencies and Techiman South Constituency as in the case of 2016 and 2020 respectively is of no significance to the declared results hence the decision to forgo them to avoid unnecessary delay and further heightened tension in the country. Just like myself, any Mathematics student understands this phenomenon adequately. If your Mathematics is defective don’t just follow, consult a selfless Mathematician for advice. This is a science and data issue. If we are to be guided by some electoral experience. It will suffice to say that the assumption to allocate all results coming from the outstanding constituencies in the case of both 2016 and 2020 to one presidential candidate is untenable and should be discouraged as it is nearly impossible to make such assumption. It is untenable because these outstanding figure represents the total registered voters in those constituencies and our electoral experience reminds us that: 1. No constituency has ever recorded 100% voter turnout. 2. No constituency has given all its valid votes to just one candidate. This further supported the decisions taken by the respective returning officers of both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. Point 2: the NDC argued again that why did the EC declare the results with certain figures and gazetted the results with different figures? Again, this arguement is flawed because the EC did indicate before declaration that there are some figures yet to come from Techiman South Constituency. We were told this by the EC to bear in mind that the declared results is not final but reliable because the outstanding figures cannot vary the results significant enough to invalidate the declared results. Dear NDC supporters, your leaders are misleading you into doing the unthinkable don’t listen to them. It was a peaceful walk not a demonstration–NDC MPs

It was not as simple as expected at the Electoral Commission Headquarters in Accra when Minority members in parliament led by Hon. Haruna Iddrissu beseeched the EC’s Headquarters to present their petition.   Some of the MPs were seen dressed in a mourning black attire with their faces frowned which indicates how peeved they were, following the recent happenings in the country especially after the declaration result of the December 2020 general elections.  In an event which the Minority described as a peaceful walk to the Electoral Commission Headquarters to enable them to submit their petition, some of them were captured struggling themselves through the barricade as they were been pushed by the police but few of them later passed through the barricade and was able to penetrate.   However, some MPs described the situation as an unfortunate incident as they expressed dissatisfaction. according to them, they were surprised that police personnel was seriously preventing them not to submit their petition. During a protest in Tamale First Vice Chairman of the NDC, Chief Sofo Awudu Azorka said the NDC intends swearing in John Dramani Mahama as President on January 7.  Adding that the NDC believes that John Dramani Mahama is the legitimate President of Ghana and no human can change that. Meanwhile, the content of the petition is yet to be revealed the NDC has consistently said they do not accept the results of the just-ended polls which was used to declare Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president.    Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/ Ngaemgbulam Chidozie Stepehen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. I will join the NDC demonstrate if there’s proof of rigging – NPP communicator

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s communication team, Padmore Baffour Agyapong has said that he will willingly join the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s demonstrations for EC to overturn the election results if only the party is able to present evidence that the election was rigged in favour of the ruling NPP. In a panel discussion on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he said: “If the NDC presents evidence that shows that the election was rigged, I will join the NDC to demonstrate. That is if they present evidence to convince me that the election was rigged for NPP. “Convince me with the data. But so far you have not given any evidence to convince me that the figures presented by the Electoral Commission were wrong. The EC has published all the sixteen regions’ results but which of the region has been contested by the NDC along with the pink sheets? That is how you convince people to go on the streets to demonstrate. But you don’t convince people to go on the street on the basis of ‘we are still looking into it but we have been cheated’ narrative”. Padmore was insistent that even if the NDC is able to present numbers different from that collated by the EC, it had to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the numbers they have are really the true numbers and not concocted. Last week, hundreds of supporters of the National Democratic Congress stormed the Electoral Commission’s head office demanding that the Commission declared John Mahama as the President-elect. But what started as a peaceful protest turned violent when the supporters blocked the Accra-Kanda section of the road and set lorry tyres ablaze. NDC to contest 5 parliamentary results in court

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted that it will in the next few weeks use legitimate means to contest the parliamentary results of five constituencies. According to the party, results for Techiman South, Sefwi Wiawso, Zabzugu, Tarkwa Nsuem and Essikado Ketan were illegally declared in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Thursday, a member of the NDC legal team, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed noted that some anomalies have been detected in the various constituencies, therefore, will use the judiciary to overturn the results. “We have not still accepted the final result of Techiman South because we insist that there was no collation at Techiman South and for that matter declaration that was done was not legal.” “We are also contesting Zabzugu, where a secret declaration was done by the EC at a location that the NDC did not have its people,” he explained. He then added, “Sefwi Wiawso, Tarkwa Nsuaem and Essikado Ketan are all seats we are going to contest.” This comes after the outstanding parliamentary seat was finally collated and declared in favour of the NDC. For Mr Mohammed Ahmed, although the NDC has now attained 137 seats, per their pink sheets at the five indicated constituencies, they should have won those seats too. Thus, they will employ legal measures and challenge the outcome declared by the Electoral Commission. On his part, the MP for the Okere constituency, Dan Botwe said the New Patriotic Party will also contest the parliamentary results of the Banda and Savelugu constituencies. How can we go to court when the ‘tyrant’ is blocking our means? – Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the means by which the party will go to court to challenge the results of the presidential and parliament elections are being blocked. He told TV3’s Komla Klutse in an interview that the party is being denied access to some pink sheets, the primary documents upon which the election results were declared, to enable them put their case together for possible court action. “We have to secure the means of going to court. Even the means of going to court and having the chance of winning is still being blocked by the tyrant.” “So why do you want to go to court when the person who knows that when you go to court you will need A, B, C and so we are blocking your means of getting there so that you cannot go to court. And then sycophants will be sitting outside and shouting go to court.” “If we have to go to court about Techiman, we can only go to court to challenge the results of Techiman as declared. We are being denied even the opportunity of sighting what results were declared when the law gives us an entitlement to a copy,” he said. The main opposition party has been urged to resort the court to address its disagreements with the results of the elections. For instance, US Ambassador Stephanie S. Sullivan met with former President John Dramani Mahama who was the presidential candidate for the NDC barely a week after he rejected results The US Ambassador also met Mr Mahama’s running mate in the elections, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, at the meeting on Thursday, December 17. They “discussed the recent elections”. The US envoy is said to have urged not only the 2020 Presidential Candidate and Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but also all political parties “to pursue legal channels for any electoral disputes and to preserve the peace in Ghana”. Since Mr Mahama’s official rejection of the election results, which declared incumbent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as winner, his supporters have held scattered demonstrations across the country. On Thursday after a group of supporters demonstrated near the headquarters of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), 26 of them were arrested by the police. 3 Nwes Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

Election 2020: Sammy Gyamfi presents evidence of electoral fraud

Election 2020: Sammy Gyamfi presents evidence of electoral fraud

Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress has presented to the general public evidence of electoral fraud in the just-ended December 7 elections, which his party has gathered so far. He maintained that the 2020 presidential election results declared by Jean Mensa, the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, is a ‘stolen verdict’ for the incumbent president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, hence his party’s rejection of the declared results. Gyamfi, at a news conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, claimed some evidence gathered by the party so far has established the point that the Jean Mensa-led EC at some polling stations decided to reduce the votes of the NDC candidate, John Dramani Mahama, and added more figures to the votes of candidate Akufo-Addo. He indicated that what the party has detected in their audit of the pink sheets is “naked thievery”. Sammy Gyamfi cited an example thus, “So Sunyani West SDA Primary School, Chiraa 1 Polling Station, the number of voters on the voter’s register is 49. Total ballots allocated to the polling station by the EC per the constituency ballot statistics document they themselves gave political parties is 60.” “Yet, the total votes cast at the polling station is 466 as recorded on the face of the pink sheet. If this is not evidence of electoral fraud, then what is it?” he questioned. “Mind you, this is just one out of the thousands of cases of over-voting we have uncovered through our painstaking audit of pink sheets,” he added. Sammy Gyamfi averred, “right from the onset, it was clear that the NPP was given an illegal advantage to cheat by the Electoral Commission. They have been given official ballot papers which were security materials, stamped with the EC’s validation stamp…” Sammy Gyamfi stressed that the NDC have “all the pink sheets and at the right time, we are going to make our findings public”. The EC within 48 hours of voting on Wednesday, December 9, declared the incumbent President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president-elect of Ghana, but has changed its figures several times, all of which point to a run-off election, yet the EC claims its wrongful addition of figures and calculation of percentages are correct. For example, the EC on Thursday, December 10, issued a statement admitting an error saying its Chairperson, “inadvertently used 13,433,573 as the total valid votes cast”. “The total valid votes cast is 13,119,460. This does not change the percentages stated for each candidate and the declaration made by the Chairperson.” John Dramani Mahama, who led the NDC into the 2020 elections, at a press conference after the EC declared President Akufo-Addo the winner of the presidential race, described the results as ‘flawed and fictionalised.’ Mahama averred that data available to his party from across all the 16 regions of Ghana showed that he had won the 2020 presidential election, insisting that any other pronouncement by the EC was evidence of manipulation of figures. He, therefore, rejected the outcome of the presidential election. Ghanaweb Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

NDC protesters clash with police at EC Headquarters

Persons believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have clashed with police at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) following a protest by the former. Sympathizers of the NDC have since the declaration of the results for the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections been staging a series of demonstrations in protest of what they describe a “stolen verdict” for President Akufo-Addo. The latest of such demonstrations saw hundreds of party supporters clad in red and black attires, wielding sticks and placards heading to the Electoral Commission in Accra. A video sighted by 3news.com shows the police using waters cannons to disperse the crowd which seemed resistant. 3News Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

The group calling for my resignation does not exist, i worked so hard- UER NPP CHAIRMAN

The Upper East Region Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Anthony Namoo has responded to the group calling for his resignation over what they described as abysmal performance the Upper East Region have witnessed under his leadership in the 2020 elections. Speaking to Apexnewsgh.com, the Chairman said the group does not exist.  According to him the party and its executives worked so hard to ensuring that their targets were met and unfortunately, they could not achieve their targets, adding that, it does not mean they did not work as the Group suggesting. According to the group, “Unfortunately, the region was headed for a record worst performance. The region was to lose all its 3 seats and decrease its share of the Presidential votes to about 32%. The region was to suffer from leadership paralysis. A leadership that provided no direction to achieving any of its own set targets,” a group called Patriotic Movement for Growth said this in their earlier statement. However, Chairman Namoo believes, this is the time for them to examine what went wrong and it is when that examination is done and it’s clear that the regional chairman and his executives did not do the right thing. then, a blame can come but not haven’t done that not haven’t contributed anything to the party, only for them to mushroom and just sprout just recently to come be blaming people. Then, it is unfortunate. Lawyer Namoo added that due to his hard work as a regional chairman, he closed his office and worked and did not go to court for the period because he believed that there is the need to invest time in the party. “Though the target we set for ourselves we couldn’t achieve it, that does not mean we didn’t work hard. I had to collapse my office and virtually did not go to court. I had to make sure that we led the campaign and we did the best that we can.” He told Apexnewsgh.com Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications
