Ministerial list: Names coming and their possible positions

Considering the general order of things, the poorly-performing ministers are more likely to be dropped as some other new personality likely to replace them. Already, some names have pop up as potential ministers under the newly formed Akufo-Addo-led administration, some of these include maintained ministers who may be moved to other ministries, some who may be maintained in their ministries and others who may be the freshers in the team. Reshuffled ministers: According to a Dailyguide newspaper report, former Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) may be taking on John Peter Amewu’s former job as Energy Minister whilst Mr Amewu who is now the Hohoe MP moves to the Railways Ministry as substantive Minister. This will leave Mr Opoku Prempeh’s position for his former Deputy, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum who was quite cooperative with the administration of his duties in his previous capacity. Dan Botwe who was iconic with the reorganization and establishment of the 6 new regions as Regional Reorganisation and Development Minister is likely, per DailyGuide’s report, to be moved to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development which was previously occupied by Hajia Alima Mahama. Samuel Atta Akyea who was Works and Housing Minister may be moved to the Environment Ministry as its Minister. Retained Ministers: For those who particularly left distinctive marks after their first term, they have been projected to retain their various ministerial appointments. Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Roads Minister who spearheaded the Year of Roads project, Kwasi Amoako Atta has also been named, Communications and Information Ministers, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah respectively, have been mentioned for this category. Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Food and Agriculture minister who spearheaded the Planting for Food and Jobs Policy, Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, and Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey also have their names emerging for retaining. Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, Ambrose Dery, Interior Minister, Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison and Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah also made the speculated list as reported by DailyGuide. It is still unknown, however, what the fate of Attorney General, Gloria Afua Akuffo will be moving forward; whether or not she will be maintained or if there even is any possibility of her being replaced by her deputy Godfred Dame who has become more popular in recent times. Exclusive: Rojo Nunoo and Dr. White told NDC a ‘cock and bull story’– Stephen Atubiga

Communication member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Stephen Atubiga has condemned actions exhibited by the party personalities tasked to be a watchdog at the EC strongroom Rojo Nunoo and Dr. White, for their reckless and unaccepted reasons they gave for leaving the EC strongroom Mr. Atubiga who spoke in an exclusive interview with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 After the election declaration by the Electoral Commission, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came out boldly rejecting the EC declaration result. According to NDC, their representatives were not present at the EC strongroom when the declaration was made. According to them, their representatives were sent out by the EC chairperson to deliver a document to the NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama. However, the reason from these individuals was that they were sent out by the EC chairperson to deliver a document to the NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama. An excuse Stephen Atubiga described as reckless and unacceptable reasons. However, he also blamed the campaign manager for sleeping on his job. According to the angry Stephen Atubiga, the campaign manager Joshua Alabi should have appointed more party people at the EC strongroom to avoid such an experience. “Alabi supposed to be there, the campaign director supposed to be there and a whole lot of national executives some of them are supposed to be there but, we left individuals Rojo and Dr. White to be there and they come out telling us that the woman sent them to deliver a document to our candidate my brother, that is a cock and bull story. It is the most reckless, unacceptable reasons coming from the two of them. They delivered an envelope which is not even heavier than a load and two of them left the strongroom to go and meet John Mahama, were they not fools can’t somebody stay behind? My question to them was, do they have the final result from the EC knowing very well that our result has been tampered with, do they have those figures from the EC, who do they call at the national level? So, these are questionable issues that we as a party have to look into. Yes, we were rigged, but who left the door ajar”. “Are you saying if we are up to eight in the strongroom the woman will say all of them should go out, that will not happen unless they decide to arrest everyone in the strongroom but that didn’t happen? we have to be frank to ourselves, we have failed on our own, we did not protect our own interests. It is the duty of the campaign manager to announce that his candidate has won before EC declaration, it is the duty of the campaign manager to tell the world that my candidate will be forming government immediately, that is the tension you create to let the EC sit up and it is our own, that gave information to the opposition that we were not ready”. Joshua Alabi must be blamed, he exhibited massive incompetence as a campaign manager- Stephen Atubiga

Communication member and National Democratic Congress (NDC) contestant for 2020 party flagbearership position Mr. Stephen Atubiga has revealed, that the NDC 2020 campaign manager Joshua Alabi contributed hugely for the party set back in the just ended December 7, elections which sees NPP Akufo- Addo emerged victorious. Mr. Atubiga made the revelation in an exclusive interview with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 The leadership of the National Democratic Congress has at its Functional Executive Committee (FEC) meeting, held on Monday 29th June 2020, appointed members of the Party’s National Campaign Team that will prosecute the party’s campaign in the December 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. Professor Joshua Alabi is the National Campaign Manager, with Hon. Alex Segbefia as his Deputy. Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo -Lartey, (rtd) is the Director of Operations of the campaign, with James Agyenim Boateng as the Campaign Spokesperson. Mrs. Mawuena Trebarh and Ms. Margaret Ansei are the Deputy Campaign Spokespersons, whilst Gen. R S Blay (rtd) is the Strategic Advisor to the Campaign Team. But, according to Mr. Atubiga, appointing someone as a campaign manager does not mean that, your duty is to be following the aspiring President or the candidate around. He said a campaign Manager, the duty of Mr. Alabi should have been to coordinate and strategically position the candidate very well in line with party structure to enable them to get a victory. “There is a saying in Kusasi that if someone raped your wife out there. Yes, the fellow may be a rapist but at this same time, you have to also look around and see the dressing or the appearance of your wife that attracts the rapist. In moving forward, I think the campaign manager, they don’t make someone a campaign manager just by following the candidate around beside the party structure. You are a campaign manager to the candidate so that you can coordinate and strategically position the candidate very well and making sure that in line with the party structure with the candidate to get the victory”. He explained “It was the responsibility of the campaign manager Joshua Alabi to make sure that he coordinates from the candidate private office or private structure with the party to make that our election result was collated very well”. He stressed He further stated that Mr. Alabi should use the former Presidential aspirants who contested him to be his campaign coordinator at various regions to enable effective monitoring and supervision. “And also, Alabi could have used the former Presidential aspirants who contested him be to his campaign coordinator at various regions, ‘because there is saying that too much meat doesn’t spoil soup’ and how can a whole NDC party structure, the EC strongroom which is the heart of the final hard work of all our struggle, we only have two people in that strongroom”? Just In: See what Haruna Iddrisu told President Akufo-Addo about his “caretaker” ministers appointments

The leader of the NDC caucus in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu has said, that the recent action by President Akufo Addo appointing some ministers he administered the nation within his first term as caretaker ministers is “unconstitutional” and “illegal” Mr. Iddrisu who was speaking on Joy Prime monitored by Apexnewsgh.com sighted a Supreme Court judgement, as he explained that in J. H. Mensah versus The Attorney General in 1997, the Supreme Court ruled that there was nothing like ‘acting’ or ‘holding’ minister. Insisting that the President got it wrong. “I have seen some former ministers still hold themselves about as if they are ministers. That is unlawful, that is illegal and unconstitutional. As we speak today, Ghana has no ministers,” “The President got it wrong. Their mandate has elapsed and until they are nominated, go through vetting, secure approval of Parliament, they cannot hold themselves out as Ministers. So as far as we are concerned, there is nothing like an Acting Minister and the Supreme Court does not recognize such a position.” However, the Tamale South MP’s comments came after President Akufo-Addo on Monday directed some of his former ministers to maintain their respective positions until new appointments are made for his second term. The former ministers who were asked to be ‘caretaker’ ministers include Kojo Oppong Nkruma , former Minister of Information, Alan Kyerematen, former Minister of Trade and Industry, Ken Ofori-Atta, former Minister of Finance; and Domini Nitiwul, former Minister of Defence. The others are Ambrose Dery, former Interior Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, former National Security Minister and Hajia Alima Mahama, former Local Government Minister. Eugene Arhin is also to act as Director of Communications at the presidency. Meanwhile, the ‘caretaker’ ministers, according to a GNA report, have been directed by the acting Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, not to take decisions involving policy issues. This attitude of someone sitting in Accra to determine who is a winnable candidate or not must stop—Agnes Chigabatia

Former Deputy Upper East Regional Minister Agnes Asangalisa Chigabatia has said that the leadership method of imposing candidates to their constituents is gradually killing the party spirit and love for the party. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Sunday, January 10, 2021, madam Chigabatia lamented, that the implications of imposing candidates to their constituents is dangerous and needs massive attention as a party. “I don’t know how someone from Accra can know my house more than myself. You sit in Accra and say this person is not a winnable candidate, is not a winnable material, which material is winnable? If you are impacting in the life of the people, if you are socializing with the people, not only executives there will be no much to be afraid of”. “Another thing that caused us plenty is our primaries. Our Primaries was too much, only primaries of about 400 to 500 people, you will go and be giving flat screen, motorbike forgetting that you are coming to the main campaign. What are you going to give them, especially when they have seen what you have done to your delegates already? Some of them spend all those material things and yet lost, not because the people didn’t love them but because there was power elsewhere and you after spending, you will go and lose painfully, so where is the spirit for you to get up and follow that person who caused your defeat? Let’s just be frank. But, if we sit down and made the constituency know who is winnable candidate, without imposing anyone on them, that will be fantastic”. “Look at the history the Independent Candidate chocked, I like that man because he was bold and he loved his people and he loved his party though the party didn’t give him chance when someone is doing something allow the person. If you have 2- 3 children and they are fighting don’t try saving one, let them fight the winner is your child and they are all your children. But immediately you side for one then, the rest will say you don’t love them. When you want to tell some people the truth they don’t accept, the truth is painful and that is my husband’s name Chigabatia meaning the truth is painful”.
