Meanwhile, persons who hold Masters Certificate should have been obtained after the applicants’ last promotion date and the certificate date should be on or before 2017. Ghanaians must respect the rights of homosexuals – Most Reverend Philip Naameh
The President of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference, Most Reverend Philip Naameh has pleaded with Ghanaians to make it a habit of respecting the rights and choices of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Life (LGBTQI+) people in the society as they are human beings that equally need protection like everyone else, MyNewsGh.com reports. Speaking in an exclusive interview on Kumasi-based Abusua FM with senior media practitioner, Kojo Marfo monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Bishop Naameh explained that although the Catholic Bishop Conference frowns on the sexual orientation choices of LGBTQI+ persons in Ghana, that however shouldn’t be the basis that persons engaged in such activities should be denied basic rights like accommodation and job opportunities. “Lesbians and gays are humans so we need to respect them. We need to accord them those rights that all human beings enjoy. They should not be denied employment just because they are homosexuals… They should not be denied accommodation…” he said. When asked by the host, Kojo Marfo further to clarify his position since an earlier communique from his office requested of President Akufo-Addo to openly condemn the activities of LGBTQI in Ghana, Bishop Naameh stated that “The basis for refusing them employment should not be because they are homosexuals. Someone may have an orientation to be gay and another an orientation to be a lesbian but if he’s not acting out this orientation, first of all, he is a human being and has the right to accommodation, to work and to communion with other people and those are rights we should respect. “We just don’t say that because he has homosexual tendencies, whereas all human beings have a right to something, he should be denied it.” The Ghana Catholic Bishop’s Conference (GCBC) earlier in a press statement demanded of the government to shut down the recently commissioned office of LGBTQI in the country. Monaco defender Badiashile confirms Man United DID bid to sign him last summer
Monaco centre back Benoit Badiashile has confirmed that Manchester United did make an offer to sign him last summer but insists he has no regrets about a transfer not materialising. The 19-year-old, who burst onto the scene two years ago for the Ligue 1 club, was reportedly subject to a bid of £22million from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in September. Former Hearts of Oak coach Kosta Papic has decided to keep mute over allegations levelled up against him by the club’s top hierarchy. The Serbian coach after leaving the Hearts of Oak job was accused of favouritism and sowing divisions in his team selection by Board member Dr Nyaho Tamakloe and team captain Fatawu Mohammed. Responding to the allegations levelled up against him, the Serbian coach said, “I’m not going to criticise anybody. To respond to that, I’m just going to move on. Yah, I’m going to take it like that,” . “I don’t want to respond to anybody because the things that have happened between the club, the players and me, are supposed to remain in the club. Asante Kotoko CEO pleads with gov’t to speed up renovation works at Baba Yara Sports Stadium
Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah has appealed to the government to speed up with renovation works currently ongoing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Baba Yara Sports Stadium which serves as the home venue for Asante Kotoko and King Faisal has been closed down for over a year for renovation works to be carried out. The Porcupine Warriors have relocated to the Accra Sports Stadium to use the venue for their home games in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League as well as in the CAF Inter-club competition. Nana Yaw Amponsah believes the Accra Sports Stadium hasn’t been favourable for his side in the ongoing season as the team has performed better in their away games, juxtaposing it with games played in Accra. He appealed to the government to help the team return to their traditional venue. “We all know that Accra Sports Stadium is not our home. Our home is the Baba Yara Sports Stadium”, Nana Yaw Amponsah told the media after Kotoko’s goalless draw against ES Setif in Algeria. “This time we haven’t lost any match away from the Accra Sports Stadium, which is a very good record.
