The lawyer for South Dayi MP, Rockson Nelson-Dafeamakpor, Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo, has confirmed that they do not plan to appeal the Supreme Court’s ruling on Parliament’s decision to put a hold on the vetting of President Akufo-Addo’s ministerial nominee. Apexnewsgh reports
The Supreme Court recently rejected an application for an interlocutory injunction that aimed to prevent Parliament from continuing with the vetting of new ministers chosen by President Akufo-Addo. The court described the application as frivolous and an abuse of the legal process.
The MP for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, had filed a suit challenging the constitutionality of the President’s decision to reassign ministers without Parliament’s involvement. However, the Supreme Court determined that this case did not directly relate to the nominees currently under consideration by Parliament.
During an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show, Samoa Addo stated, “We disagree with the ruling but we respect the ruling. We don’t have any intention of seeking a review. We want the substantive matter to be heard.”
As a result of this decision, Parliament will proceed with the vetting process of the President’s ministerial nominees as planned, without any further legal challenges.
