Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam, a project dear to his heart. Apexnewsgh reports
During his visit to the Upper East Region, he interacted with religious leaders and stakeholders, reiterating the project’s significance in his agenda for prioritizing agriculture.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized, “I have no doubt that I am championing the Pwalugu multipurpose dam, and by the grace of God, we will do it.” He prioritizes large-scale commercial agriculture and mechanized agriculture with technology, acknowledging the project’s delay due to the pandemic.
Despite the challenges, the Volta River Authority assures that work will proceed, with Chinese engineers already in Ghana overseeing the construction.
The project, approved with a $900 million loan facility, covers irrigation, flood control, 60MW hydropower, and 50MW solar power to augment electricity supply to the five northern regions.
Power China International will execute the project over 52 months, with the Volta River Authority supervising.
