After completing cross-examination by the defendant’s lawyer, Agbesi Dzakpasu, the court adjourned the case to May 17, 2024, for Gabby Otchere-Darko to call his second witness.
In the suit, Otchere-Darko is seeking GHC10 million in damages, an apology, and a retraction of the alleged defamatory words written by Professor Frimpong-Boateng. The professor’s leaked report made several damaging accusations against government officials, including Otchere-Darko, linking him to illegal mining activities.
According to the plaintiff’s lawyers, the defendant’s false statements have caused reputational damage and continue to generate insults against Otchere-Darko, who has denied any involvement in illegal mining activities.
The case highlights the legal battle between two prominent figures and the impact of defamatory words on reputations in the age of social media.
