Cyber Security Authority Reports Nearly 200 Cases of Online Fraud in First Quarter, Resulting in GHC2.4 Million Loss

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has disclosed that it received a concerning total of 194 cases of online fraud from January to March this year, causing a significant financial loss of approximately GHC2,404,161. Apexnewsgh reports

Highlighting a worrying trend, the CSA explained that during canonical festivals like Easter and Ramadan, cybercriminals exploit the surge in online commercial transactions to carry out fraudulent activities.

In response to these alarming statistics, the CSA issued a statement last Thursday, March 28, urging the public to exercise caution and vigilance in their online engagements to safeguard against falling victim to cyber scams.

The authority’s warning emphasizes the critical need for increased awareness and proactive measures to counter the growing threat of online fraud.
