The High Court in Koforidua, Eastern Region, has dismissed an election petition filed against Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh Dompreh, affirming his victory in the 2024 general elections. Apexnewsgh reports
The court, presided over by His Lordship Krofa Addae, granted an application for dismissal filed by Gary Nimako Marfo, the New Patriotic Party’s Director of Legal Affairs.
The petition sought to challenge the legitimacy of Annoh Dompreh’s election as MP, but after reviewing the arguments, the court found no merit in the claims and subsequently struck out the petition. The court also awarded GH¢25,000 in costs against the petitioner.
Annoh Dompreh, who currently serves as the Minority Chief Whip, was elected to represent the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency in the December 2024 polls. This ruling brings finality to any legal contestation regarding his parliamentary seat and is seen as a significant legal win for the NPP, reinforcing the legitimacy of Annoh Dompreh’s electoral mandate.
The Koforidua High Court is one of the prominent courts in the Eastern Region, known for handling various cases, including election petitions. Other notable courts in the region include the Municipal Court, Judicial Service Magistrate Court, and the Supreme Court of Ghana, located in Accra.
