A very patriotic agent of Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency Peter Atuga Ayonka has expressed satisfaction with the party Presidential primaries election outcome in his constituency Bolgatnaga Central. He said, if he had managed to have one V8 just as Dr. Bawumia’s appointees were campaigning with over 14 V8s, he would have won Kennedy Agyapong over 456 votes.
Peter Atuga Ayonka, told Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh, that he sees himself as a hero for polling 95 votes for his candidate with what he described as a ‘simple motorbike’ against over 14 V8s.
“It really burnt our candle night moving up and down meeting delegates and making sure we propagated to good works of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong. Today marks the end of the voting and at the end, Bolgatanga Central Hon. Kennedy had 95 votes and to me, am a happy man today. I am a happy man because, looking at the kind of logistics I was using, a ‘simple motorbike’ against about 14 to 15 V8 moving around the same communities with biger biger incentives, today if am able to get 95 votes then, I will tell myself that am a hero”. He said
“If I had gotten a single V8, I would have gotten 456 votes”
Asking whether his candidate will be happy with the 95 votes, he said: “I believe Hon. Kennedy will be a happy man today. Because, Upper East is the stronghold of the Vice President and with the cartels, the appointees behind him, or the establishment candidate achieving this result, Hon Kennedy will be a happy man but we need to do our homework well, we need to put our Arsenal together, we need to put our mathematics well in calculation with where we started to up to date, so that we will then have a sense of direction”.
Peter further said, in the next four years, he believes when a candidate comes again to contest, the delegates will see the light in him and give him an overwhelming victory.
Asking whether Hon. Kennedy Agyapong would resign after the election declaration. Peter said, “In times past, my candidate Hon. Agyapong made it clear that if today’s voting is climax with violence and other things that wouldn’t go down well with delegates or himself, he will think of quitting or breaking away from the party. But as we are seeing now, that hasn’t happened as I know and I believe the ultimate goal is for us to rally behind the elected candidate and see how best we can break the 8 come 2024”. He responded
Dennis Anaba the Upper East Regional Coordinator for Hon. Agyapong used the medium to extend words of appreciation to all delegates, the security, and the media for exhibiting maturity by way of conducting themselves during the voting process.
However, he described the 95 votes as insignificant looking at the work they have done by way of campaigns. He believes the northern part of the country is the World Bank of Dr. Bawumia, the reason they couldn’t win in the region.
