The Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu has advised members of his party in various positions to bring themselves down to those they see as ordinary people in their various constituencies and district and stop the unnecessary showing off with Land Cruisers. Apexnewsgh.com report
The Regional Minister who was delivering his speech at the official launch of a group known as Rapid Response Unit (RRU) for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday, August 5, 2023, said the NPP in the region needs to change from their Land Cruiser lifestyle.
“I want to take this opportunity to advise all of us, look at the MPs that are in this region when they are coming to their constituencies do you see them in the land cruisers, do you see them with Land cruisers? They will probably fly and come to Tamale and then come with public transport and when they get here, probably they will have a pickup sitting somewhere, they will be in that pickup and sometimes even on a motorbike. But they are MPs and they are moving from house to house, sitting with people, talking with them, and drinking with them”.
“But what do we do as NPP? We are in Land Cruisers, right? And we drove to show we have money right? Okay, if you have money, go and chop the money alone. So, we need to learn, we need to change, we need to figure out how this person did it”.
The Minister believes that the most important thing for the NPP in the region is to work hard for the party to come to power. “NPP we will crumble, we will complain, someone had school feeding, he will still complain he had nothing. This is how we are, this is who we are, we need to change”. He stressed
Hon. Yakubu expressed the above dissatisfaction stating that these were some of the attitudes that caused the party to such an abysmal performance in the 2020 elections.
“15 constituencies we have just one seat”. He lamented
