A brave girl from Dasabligo in the Upper East Region of Ghana had the world talking and blaming authority while others sympathized with her. Agnes Mba, now 10 years old is the happiest person ever to gain her ability to walk with the help of an advanced leg brace. It was amazing to see her move her legs, something she has never experienced since birth. The sight of the brace might seem amazing, but it is meant to help her walk.

The plight of the little girl told by Peter Agengre, a journalist, wooed public sympathy after it was published in the media. According to the reporter, she had no option but to crawl 1km to school since her attempt to walk when growing up was unsuccessful due to cerebral palsy.

Many philanthropists came to her aid with cash donations, clothes, books, food beverages and two wheel chairs. Through the support, Agnes had appointments with medical doctors in Accra where she was taken through assessment before she was fixed some braces to enable her walk. This is to give her the best possible chance of living a normal life; walking around just like everyone else. That keeps her away from the ground.

“Agnes is actually pretty incredible. If I think about all the things that happened to her through her illness, I thought that she can’t walk anymore. But I’m happy to see her move on her own.’’ Agnes’ father told Peter Agengre.

The family continue to express their gratitude to all individuals who supported them after their cry was made public, and especially to Dr. Kofi Amoah a Ghanaian business man who supported them with GHc25, 000.00. Agnes and the family are back in Nabdam where she would be taken throughfurther rehabilitation in Bolgatanga to support her adjust to the braces. They would be returning to Accra in six months’ time for a review.
