President John Dramani Mahama has asked Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency, to reach out to him for a discussion. Apexnewsgh reports
This request came after Mahama delivered his maiden State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
As Mahama exchanged pleasantries with MPs after his speech, he specifically asked Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to call him. Although the reason behind the request remains unclear, it follows criticism from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. Afenyo-Markin accused Mahama of failing to fulfill his promise to appoint more women to his Cabinet, with only two women appointed out of 19 Cabinet ministers, representing a mere 10%.
Afenyo-Markin suggested that capable women like Zanetor Rawlings and Helen Ntorsu were overlooked for key roles despite their dedication and competence. Interestingly, Zanetor Rawlings was initially rumored to be in the running for the Health Minister position, but Kwabena Mintah Akandoh was ultimately appointed.
It’s worth noting that Zanetor Rawlings has been nominated as a Minister of State for the Ministry of Health, as part of President Mahama’s third batch of ministerial nominations.
The request for a discussion may be related to her potential role in the government or other matters. Only time will tell what this meeting may entail.
