Yaw Mort, a former Regional Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and who doubles as a successful businessman has revealed, that he derived some level of motivation from the late Council of State member Bishop Jacob Ayeebo who was very approachable and accessible during his time as a Council of State.
Mr. Mort who spoke to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Friday, February 12, 2021, said, not only that the late Anglican Bishop was accessible and approachable but, his focus was directed to the youth.
He said, after winning the Council of State representative for the Upper East Region, he will surely follow the footstep of the late Bishop Ayeebo. Mr. Mort was very confident that among those he was contesting the position with, he stands so tall.
However, talking about his age, Mr. Mort pointed, that he is in between the young and the old, stressing that he wants to break the record and mentally of some people that, Council of State meant for 70 years old and above.
“After winning the position of the Council of State representative in Upper East, my focus will be on the youth out there who had no job, youth who have lost hope and am assuring them that they should never lose hope and that Yaw Mort becoming a Council of State member, my focus on them and to ensure, that the slots that normally remain in Accra will always come to the region. I will ensure that, in the recruitment of Police, Fire Service and Custom, Immigration, Prison, Local government wherever, I will bring them to the region here and share them to the assemblies to ensure that they all get and give it to our brothers and sisters who some of them have completed school but have nothing to do”. He stressed
“I know of one Bishop Jacob Ayeebo who was once upon a time a Council of State member during the NDC time and this is what he was doing, he was so accessible, he was so open and everybody when you call on him, he receives you and listen to you and do what you want for him. The things he cannot do he will tell you and I am been motivated by that and that is why am coming out and I am in between the ages of the young and old 50 and plus, those days they will tell say you cannot contest because you are not up to 70years and that is the record I want to break and ensure that the upcoming youth will also take some opportunities. I am coming up with opportunities, I am not going to do politics. If people are promising today because it is an election, they want to tell people to vote for them they will give you Police slot, where were those ones all along the 4 years we have spent, where were those slot that they didn’t bring it? But today they are promising that they will give it to them and am telling them that they should never fall for it. Mr. Mort told Apexnewsgh.com
