Somewhere in August 2022, the Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, P3 Asagpaare Aneakwoa Balinia Adda II, openly made a face-to-face appeal to President Akufo-Addo over the controversial abandoned Navrongo Youth Resource Center.
The Paramount Chief made the appeal on Friday, August 5, 2022, during President’s one-day visit to the region.
The Chief started by thanking President Akufo-Addo for the numerous development and projects he and his government brought to Navrongo since his assumption of office.
“I want to thank you on behalf of the chief of the Upper East Region for the numerous development and projects you brought to us since you assumed office in 2017”.
“Your Excellency the non-completion of the Youth Resource Center in Navrongo is a source of worry to many in the Municipality.
“I wish to use this platform to make a passionate appeal to you to complete the resource Center”.
“Your Excellency, the only team in the region that qualifies for the national in Division One is Mboma Stars FC of which I am the patron. So, the completion of this resource Center will serve as a befitting ground teams match since the facility is a multi-purpose one”.
Apexnewsgh.com team visited the scene and proceeded to the Navrongo Chief Palace to know whether there has been any update after 10 months since he appealed to the President.
Meanwhile, engaging Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, P3 Asagpaare Aneakwoa Balinia Adda II in an exclusive interview on the matter, he said he is not happy and nobody will be happy with such development. He said, his appeal to the President 10 months ago, was not even mentioned at a time in the President’s speech. Stressing that he don’t know if the President heard him or not. “But in any case, am still appealing to him and his government”. He said
“There is this team, am the patron Mboma Stars FC they qualify to play in Division One, and their home matches were supposed to be in Tamale.
Meanwhile, if the sports complex was completed, they could have used it. Because of that they pulled out because of finance and I don’t is good for us, they could have gotten talents from here to the national teams. So, I still appeal to the President.
Narrating challenges causing the delays, this is how the Chief described it: “It is like somebody started and the person has not completed, then they engage another person. So, I have started the thing and they have not allowed me to complete and they are now asking another person to come in. I have to finish my part before allowing you to come in, so I will not even finish my part let alone you coming in. That is exactly what is happening here” The Chief narrated
