Sustainable Development Goal six which targets clean water for all is one of the 17 goals established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015.
It requires member states to invest in infrastructure provide sanitation facilities encourage hygiene while protecting and restoring the water-related ecosystem in order to meet the target of providing safe affordable drinking water for all by 2030
However residents of Chonbosu, a farming community under Chereponi in the North East region lament over good drinking water.
Mr. Inusah Abdul Razak who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Apexnewsgh.com says in this era of COVID-19, with advocacy on washing hands under clean running water, the residents of the community lacks potable clean drinking water and are prone to the virus. He further indicated that residents have to endure walking miles to access water from the well and a small dam which they usually compete with animals.
Mr. Abdul Razak called on the government, NGO’s Organizations and benevolent individuals to come to their aid.
Mr. Razak added that all efforts made to get water have yielded no results
Madam Jamila Aremiyaw says they leave home at 1 am to get water by 10 am because they are many depending on one source of water and plead that something should be done about their situation.
