President Mahama Orders Recall of Diplomatic Passports Issued Under Previous Administration

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration to recall all diplomatic and service passports issued under the previous administration. Apexnewsgh reports

The directive, signed by Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, is part of the government’s efforts to streamline the issuance of official travel documents and prevent their misuse. The recall is also intended to safeguard Ghana’s reputation and maintain the integrity of its diplomatic engagements.

To facilitate the process, President Mahama has directed the Chief Director to issue a public notice informing all holders of diplomatic and service passports from the previous administration to return them to the Ministry for verification. Passports deemed necessary will be reissued following proper checks.

The Ministry has set a firm deadline of January 24, 2025, for compliance, and all concerned individuals are required to return their diplomatic and service passports by this date. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability and adherence to international best practices in managing official travel documents.

This move is seen as a significant step towards maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s diplomatic relations and preventing the misuse of official travel documents.
