With immense joy and profound gratitude, the Konlani Yamig family at Soliga and Ayeet-Mort family at Kongo together with the Catholic Community of Kongo in the Upper East Region witnessed the heart-lifting Priestly Ordination of Deacon Jacob Yamig Yenbehit, on Saturday, 31st July, 2021 at the Minor Basilica in Navrongo. He was ordained by Most Rev. Alfred Agyenta Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese.
Rev. Fr. Jacob was a dedicated Christian during his secondary school days. He also served as an altar boy for many years at the Kongo Catholic Church until he responded to the call to serve God. Rev. Fr. Jacob entered the seminary in the year 2012 and passed through the stages until he was finally ordained a priest.
On the following Sunday of the Ordination, Fr. Jacob celebrated his first solemn Holy Eucharist of thanksgiving at the Kongo Catholic Church where he learnt the scripture. He shared the word of God, the Holy Eucharist and prayed over the congregation for the first time after nine years in the seminary.
“I don’t have anything to say after all these blessings upon my life than to thank God for the protection. God has used my family, friends, school mates and the Kongo Catholic Church to support me to be a priest today.” Rev. Fr. Jacob said to the congregation.
“I will continue to pray for you and your family but also continue to pray for me as I carry the cross because I am human.” He concluded. Reverend Father Jacob is the fifth from the Nabdam area to be ordained as catholic priest. The celebration ended with a fellowship meal for all who were present on the occasion.
Besides his parents and siblings, Fr. Jacob was joined by many priests, seminarians of the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga, students, chiefs and a large number of religious and faithful to celebrate the holy mass. It was a great moment to witness as the congregation in their traditional way thanked God as the son of the soil was ordained a priest. Congratulations dear Rev. Fr. Jacob. May Almighty God, who called you into the ministerial priesthood, grant you the wisdom and strength to lead a committed life.
