Supporters of Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and the NPP flag bearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong in the Offinso North, Offinso South, and Afigya Kwabere Constituencies located in the Ashanti region, have announced their endorsement of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
During a press conference, the group’s spokesperson, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Offinso North Constituency, Dauda Afriyie, stated that while they had faith in Alan Kyerematen’s vision for Ghana, his resignation from the NPP prior to the November 4th, 2023 presidential primaries compelled them to rally behind a credible candidate with equal competence to lead both the NPP and Ghana.
Afriyie expressed his initial shock upon hearing about Alan’s resignation from the NPP, but emphasized that he had since moved on. He revealed that he had previously been invited to support Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s campaign, but had declined in favor of joining the winning team. Although their numbers may be small at the moment, Afriyie assured that he would be bringing many more individuals from Alan’s camp within the NPP to support Dr. Bawumia.
He urged all supporters of Alan Kyerematen and Kennedy Agyapong to follow their example and openly support Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in the upcoming election on November 4. During a press conference, New Patriotic Party supporters wearing Alan Kyerematen T-shirts removed their shirts and displayed Dr. Bawumia’s campaign T-shirts, confirming their complete switch of allegiance.
Campaign activities by Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia have been intensified throughout the region. Kennedy Agyapong’s grassroots efforts are gaining significant traction, posing a threat to Dr. Bawumia’s vote target in the Ashanti region.
Starting Monday, October 16, 2023, the Second Lady, Samiratu Bawumia, will embark on a three-day campaign tour in the Ashanti region. Her itinerary includes meetings with regional executives, constituency executives, polling station executives, coordinators, and party delegates.
The purpose of the Second Lady’s campaign tour is to emphasize the importance of considering her husband, Dr. Bawumia, as the best candidate to lead the NPP into the 2024 elections.
