LGBT+: Let’s handle this issue the way a loving and angry God would handle it–Edward Adeti

Investigative Journalist with EIB Network and based in the Upper East Region, Edward Adeti has poured his view on the controversial LGBT+ Issue. According to the Facebook post issued by the investigative Journalist Edward Adeti captured by Apexnewsgh.com “We need no reminder that we cannot escape God. If you are gay or whatever else, you shouldn’t be proud of it; run to God if your efforts can’t help it. If you are anti-gay, handle it the way God would handle it, with love though angry”. Below is the full post on Facebook:  My Take on the LGBT+ Issue Those who do what is wrong may succeed in convincing Caesar but they cannot run away from God. God cannot be wrong and we cannot escape Him. Let us say no to the wrong they do but let us do so with the warning and the love of the same loving and angry God. The tone of my statement is informed by the tearful confession of somebody who knew God frowned upon his act but said he felt hopelessly trapped in an unwanted body and felt helpless in that trap. The person looked close to suicide. Even if Caesar grants you liberty by permitting you to do what God says is wrong, this freedom has no future. Let’s handle this issue the way a loving and angry God would handle it. We need no reminder that we cannot escape God. If you are gay or whatever else, you shouldn’t be proud of it; run to God if your efforts can’t help it. If you are anti-gay, handle it the way God would handle it, with love though angry. It reminds me of when I caught a poor-looking judicial service worker on tape extorting money in the line of duty. I decided to warn him and to leave him after I had caught him. I freed him because he was so destitute and near-homeless that, if he got sacked, his already-poor children would suffer and he himself might die shortly after. I observed that he did what he did not because he was greedy but because he was needy. So, I left him. Afterall, I’m doing my investigations in the interest of the needy against the interests of the greedy. Nobody is perfect yet. Let us continue to pursue perfection and what is right. Let us help those who are not happy being in their state just as God, our Source, would. If we fail to handle things well, we will blame ourselves for that failure. Let us remind them also that people may convince Caesar today but in the end they cannot escape God. And if you are an office holder and you have accepted any form of inducement to use your position to encourage people to do what God says is wrong, the regrettable end of the matter, remember, is not going to be between you and Caesar; it is going to be you and this same God. There is a Day to account. Let us tell them it is wrong because God says so. And let us tell them with love because the same God is Love. Trust me, God did not create any soul to exist in misery. There is hope for everyone. Let’s handle things as God Himself would today. Tell them it is wrong. Say it as God says it is. Condemn the sinful practice but tell them with love. Save those who want to be saved. They are your own. Don’t ‘shoot’ them. Let us tell them it is far riskier to disobey an unchanging God than to seek and grab approval from a fallible Caesar to do something God does not accept. Let us tell them and let us tell ourselves (the other species of sinners) that there is hope to escape what is coming. Those who will hear gradually will hear. I put full-stop here by saying our passion should not leave our compassion behind. LGBT+ not a human right issue; we’ll not accept it – Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante

Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante has said LGBT+ is not a human right issue. He indicated that no country can force Ghanaians to accept the act and legalise it. This comes after the European Union in Ghana declared its full support and participated in the opening of the new community space of the LGBT+ in Ghana. The EU noted that equality, tolerance and respect for each other are its core values and therefore supports civil society organisations promoting LGBT+ rights in the country. But speaking on the Class Morning Show (CMS) on Wednesday, 24 February 2021, Rev Prof Asante who is the former Chairman of the National Peace Council noted that LGBT+ has nothing to do with human rights but a confused orientation of certain individuals that can be worked on by psychologists. He told show host Kofi Oppong Asamoah that: “LGBT is not a human rights issue, let me make it clear that it will be wrong for anybody to tell us that this is their human right because as I’m saying for us, the ontological priority of the community over the individual is very important and, therefore, we should not go by the liberal conception of human right and ignore our moderate communalism that dictates our rights here in Ghana. “The community has spoken and I think that the authorities of our land will understand. Going abroad with cup in hand going for aid and for them to use that as a bait to force us to accept things that are contrary to our values is unacceptable and I think it is proper for us to learn to live on our own such as cutting our coat according to our size and not allow people to use their so-called aid to force us to do things that some of their own people are fighting against.” Rev Asante wondered why the West is attempting to force homosexualism on Africans when it is against the African culture and values. He stated that Ghanaians will neither accept nor legalise the act. In his words: “90 percent of Ghanaians are religious and we can say we will not accept such practices and it doesn’t mean we are being hypocritical. As I said, homosexuality and lesbianism from my perspective is as sinful as any other sin but then we don’t openly begin to defend such practices in the name of human rights. “If I get up to say that look I’m a kleptomania, therefore, if I see you holding something because I’m a kleptomania, I feel like stealing it, it is my situation, so it is my right to do those kinds of things, do we simply allow that? Yes, people may have certain orientation but we can work on people’s orientation. The psychologists have what it takes to address some of these issues and, therefore, it will be wrong and I was really offended when I read that the EU representative was talking about respecting the human rights of others. How about my rights? And I believe your freedom will end where my nose begins. “They are the people telling us about democracy and we have the majority, 99 percent of Ghanaians saying this is something we will not accept because it is against our cultural values, so why do we push it?” classfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Someone should be fired if LGBT+ group can’t be closed down – Sam George

The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George has called for the dismissal of some authorities who have not taken any action to close down the newly opened Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Intersex Rights (LGBT+) office in Ghana. According to the MP, government and ministries responsible must take swift action before the LGBT+ group become a functional lobbyist group capable of funding political parties to get their rights enacted into law. “This thing happened 6-days ago and none of the Ambassadors has been summoned by the Foreign Affairs to answer any question. If our Foreign Ministry and National Security is not aware of this after six days, someone must be fired,” the MP stated. He added, “You don’t seat down and let them fester and then become a functional lobbyist group in this country whereby they will start raising funds for political parties so that they start electing their members of parliament to effect a change of the law.” Sam George noted with examples that President Akufo-Addo has a great responsibility to continue from where his predecessors left by ensuring that LGBT+ still holds as a criminal offence. “Akufo-Addo’s position on the LGBT+ beholds him a higher responsibility to come out and then clamp down,” Sam George said on the Good Morning Ghana show on Metro TV. European Union (EU) on January 31, 2021, aided in the opening of a new office space for LGBT+ group in Accra, declaring its support for similar organisations. The group organized a fundraiser to help promote its activities in the country. The event which was attended by Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Gregory Andrews, the Danish Ambassador, His Excellency Tom Nørring and some delegates from the EU have received a huge backlash from the Ghanaian community who frown on the operationalization of such a group.
