As part of my visit to the North East Region I spent time to inspect ongoing works on the 9.5km road linking Misio and Wuyima in the Mamprugu Moaduri district as well as the 210 meter bridge linking Misio to Wuyima. When completed, this will shorten the three and half hours drive time from Walewale to Yagaba to forty minutes and also make it possible for commuters to travel from Walewale to Wa without going through Bolgatanga. It would also open up the vast agricultural potential of the area. The sub structures of the bridge are complete and as soon as the raining season is over the metal layovers will be latched. This is the first time after independence that any government is attempting to fix this bridge and we are grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for this. The contractor (Ghacos) has done an excellent job. Apexnewsgh.com
Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam construction to start 2021—President Akufo-Addo
“The construction of the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project is aimed at mitigating the regular floods that occur in the White-Volta basin covering parts of the Upper East and North East Regions. Preparatory activities started in 2020 and would be completed by the first half of this year with actual construction commencing the second half of this year, Commissioning is expected in 2025. It is the single largest investment in the northern part of Ghana, made by any government,”. The President made this pronouncement during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. The President who was very emphatic during his address assured the country and more especially the people of the Upper East and North East Region that, earthworks on the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam will begin in the second half of 2021 after the completion of preparatory activities in the first half. Meanwhile, President comments trail the submission of Former Energy Minister John Peter Amewu who during his vetting as Minister Designate for Railway Development disclosed that the construction company in charge of constructing the dam, Power China, has written to the Ministry of Energy for initial mobilization to officially commence work, adding that the delay was due to funding challenges. President Akufo-Addo during the sod-cutting event explained that the Pwalugu multi-purpose dam and irrigation project when constructed, remains the single largest investment by any government in Ghana’s North. The three main components of the project are a dam with an elevation of 165 meters and a maximum reservoir of 350 square kilometers, a hydroelectric power generation unit made up of two turbines with 60 megawatts of installed capacity, and 16.5 megawatts of firm continuous capacity as well as an irrigation scheme consisting of 12 metres high weir and canal system spanning about 25, 000 hectares of land. Apart from boosting economic growth through increased solar energy supply, the project is expected to help cut down on the importation of food such as rice and also serve as flood control due to the perennial flooding that often accompanies the spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso. Northerners are dangerously wicked, they enjoys seeing their own coming to kiss their ass for help—Stephen Atubiga
A native of Binduri District of the Upper East Region and a known member of the Umbrella family National Democratic Congress (NDC) Stephen Atubiga has set the record straight on how wicked a today northerner could be against his own people. Mr. Atubiga made the revelation through a write up shared with Apexnewsgh.com on January 19, 2021. According to Mr. Atubiga, northerners of today derived joy seeing their brothers and sisters coming to them every day for help. He said, even though the northerner might have the capacity to help the person out of his or her current predicament, he will rather want the person to kiss ass and continue begging for help always “Today’s northerner wants to see his brother coming to him every day to beg for help, he may be in a capacity to help you to be self-sufficient. but, but, he will not or never do it. Enjoys seeing his own coming to kiss his ass, begging for help always, that gives today’s northerner the joy of having wealth or power”. He wrote Below is Atubiga’s view on Todays Northerners I just don’t know why today’s northern breed are very wicked to their own. Unlike our fathers who pulled each other long. Today’s northerner wants to see his brother coming to him every day to beg for help, he may be in a capacity to help you to be self-sufficient. but, but, he will not or never do it. Enjoys seeing his own coming to kiss his ass, begging for help always, that gives today’s northerner the joy of having wealth or power. Most successful northerner today would tell you, they made it through another race/tribe not their own who had the opportunity to help them. Today’s northerners sees their own useless in capacity building, especially when having power. I have always advised most northerners to explore more with other race for opportunities than their own, Abu a friend of my in Kumasi, very successful businessman has always told me, today’s northerners are like family, but very good long distance. If you know, you know. I have come to also understand, why successful northerners open up and support other race/ tribes than their own. Look around you. You would see that successful northerners gives helping hands or opportunities to others race than their own. Because of today’s northerners’ attitude or pull him down. Trying to find out how one made it. The only tradition or qualities some today’s northerners still keeps is, Trust in serving other race/ tribe well Even northerners developing our own areas has been very slow when given the opportunity to lead or holding office. The wicked mind set of today’s northerners baffles my imagination sometimes. when you hear, let’s get rid of him before he takes over. Before he becomes some body to challenge us soon. Who is he to be given this opportunity? He doesn’t respect me to be allowed given this opportunity. Today’s northerner would want to be the only financial helper/ power broker to all northerners in Ghana, than helping to have or creating more in other regions, constituencies, towns and districts. Well, I am a proud northerner, but not proud of our attitude towards our own.
