Mr. Donatus Akamugre, the Upper East Minister-Designate, has identified key areas he plans to focus on as Regional Minister. Apexnewsgh reports
During his vetting on January 27, 2025, Mr. Akamugre highlighted four main priorities: the Bolgatanga Regional Airport, Pwalungu Multi-Purpose Dam, resolving the Bawku conflict, and completing the Agenda 111 project.
Mr. Akamugre expressed particular concern about the region’s health sector, citing a staggering patient-to-doctor ratio of 1 to 24,124. This, he noted, is far from the UN-recommended ratio. To address this, he vowed to prioritize the completion of Agenda 111 hospitals, emphasizing that a healthy society is essential for regional development.
In addition to healthcare, Mr. Akamugre also acknowledged the economic challenges facing the Upper East Region, which is among the poorest in Ghana. To tackle this, he plans to mobilize resources and initiate projects that create employment opportunities for youth.
By addressing these pressing issues, Mr. Akamugre aims to bring about meaningful development to the Upper East Region and improve the lives of its residents.
